I think Songbird is too busted still.

Songbird isn't THAT bad. It IS annoying but is easy enough to kill with a good ballistic suppression ship, such as a well-built standard Eradicator backed up by some solid PD. I'm frankly more annoyed by Daemon spam, but at least I have tricks to deal with those fools. AKA short range Paragon.

Could anyone give me some suggestions how to approach the Legio Rising bounty? I've tried beating my head against them for two hours with mixed results. Usually what gets me is the smaller deamon ships outmaneuvering and surrounding my capitals.

My fleet at the time was a mix of capitals with capital-carriers and smaller frigate-carriers. Currently expanded it by a couple more capital-carriers, heavily armored capitals and fast destroyer hulls.

Also, thank you for the hard work Nia :)

Try building a special Phase Excision Fleet (that's a fleet meant to kill a target for sure) containing mostly the Scalar Tech phase destroyer and a few favourites of mine, the Percale Phase Cruisers. With four or five should be fine. Learn to use them with short range SCALAR TECH ION WEAPONRY (Baste Ion Dischargers and the Large mount version of them, with the small frontal emplacements fit with the Spindle version of the antimatter blaster. Add from 5 to 8 Skirt frigates to intercept and harass stray targets and behold the Legio Infernalis crumble before very sneaky and very deadly phase ships.

I mean, you could use other phase ships from other factions if you like (especially the Phasegon from Caymon' Ship Pack and/or the Scylla Phase Cruiser from Shadowyards) but the Spindle Faction shines when it comes to execute the dreaded PERCALE AMBUSH MANOEUVRE, that is,  flank a target emerging from P-Space at the same time you activate the Percale deadly ship system and fire an ALPHA STRIKE (all weapons fire on target!!) that is sure to DISINTEGRATE lesser legio daemons, cripple legio cruisers and inflict heavy damage on legio capitals. Be wary of Hel Kodais and Hel Retributions, though, they can be problematic with their maneuvering capabilities so don't give them any quarter and focus on them until destroyed. Avoid the Hel Scaiths until most of the legio frigates and destroyers are space junk and tackle the big baddies as a wolf pack. If you don't use Scalar Tech, ION PULSERS and PHASE/TACHYON LANCES are the best option to cripple them, leaving them in flame out condition like siting ducks. Be aware that while you are in P-Space, your weapons cooldown time is reduced so your nominal DPS is increased since you can fire more often. Take advantage of this and SEND THE LEGIO TOASTERS TO HELL!!!!

Well, that's me ranting ABOUT THIS ISSUE ONCE AGAIN, but I hope you people get the message in time....someday....

any particular reason why Legio would randomly go from +49/100 standing to -50/100 and spawn a fleet to just randomly attack the player?

i get that they're a pirate faction, but it bums me out, because i'm trying to grind their standing up so i can buy a  Hresvelgr from them (cuz i dont want to chance finding their blueprint, buying the BP from the Prism, or finding it in a random OTHER market). i've dumped a ton of AI cores on them, and "repatriated prisoners" from another mod, and a good amount of missions for them to get this

unless this is some interaction with another mod?

Legio relations with the player gets reset back to Hostile once they get access to Daemons - you'll know this for certain when the Legio Rising bounty shows up in your Intel tabs. It's not too hard to go back to friendly relations with them if they're set back to -50/100, but, next time, it would be best to intentionally trigger the Daemon spawning conditions or to turn on Fast Mode in the mod setttings so as to not waste too much effort building up relations with the Legio only for it to reset.

(You can also just order a Hresvelgr from illegal arms dealers with 1 million credits worth of production, if your playthrough goes on for long enough and you are still desperate to get one)

i've found i can get the "base-model" Hresvelgr from Hegemony Relation markets, so i think i'll settle for that for now. i also have no clue about Legio's Daemons, or their trigger conditions, i'm playing absolutely blind, so this is like being told i've awoken some cthulu creature due to reading some jibberish on a piece of paper i found in my attic. what chaos am i in for? lol

are they the random "pirate" special named fleets that keep messing with me throughout the sector? i got to slap 2 around the other day when they tried to get in on a station battle with a faction they were allied with.

Uhh, I don't wanna spoil what they are if you haven't seen 'em yet. Just know that you'd probably want a really well-built fleet the next time you fight a Legio fleet.

As for the named fleets chasing you around, it is likely another mod that specifically adds that. Nexerelin, for example, adds vengeance fleets exhibit the chasing behavior, and those usually appear whenever you take enough hostile actions against any one faction. Although, I don't have enough information to say if that's truly the case for you and that there isn't yet another mod adding similar fleets.

Is there a way of keeping legio faction but preventing this mod from altering the ship compositions of the major factions?  A lot of the new ships crowd out some of the favorites I want to see in the major factions.

Note: make a backup copy and/or .zip / .rar / .7z compressed archive of the 'tahlan-shipworks-1.3' mod folder before doing anything else.

There's the option of deleting the various .faction files in '<Starsector Path>\mods\tahlan-shipworks-1.3\data\world\factions' while keeping the .faction files that start with 'tahlan_' in their names.

Addendum: Do NOT touch factions.csv, default_ranks.json or default_ship_roles.json in that folder. To do so is inviting crashes-to-desktop.

Regular Nelson is unspeakably bad for its DP cost no matter what you do with it. Please either remove this ship and leave only the 14 version, or give it significant buffs. This thing is hand-tailored to gaslight you into thinking you're bad at this game.

Are there any plans for the Legio contact to get you into the Nightwatch inner circle?
