Good Evening Ladies and Gentlemen, and
¨¨¨™¤¦¤™¨¨¨ Welcome to the second Starsector fanfiction contest! ¨¨¨™¤¦¤™¨¨¨
...I can hardly believe the first one was already three years ago.
This time we have actual prizes and an amazing first prize!
Prizes
First prize: A 90x60cm (~35"x24") printed canvas (on a 4cm thick stretcher frame) of
David's Starsector painting "The Hound and the Hangar". Here's the actual thing:
The catch: You'd have to pay the shipping costs yourself. That comes to 7€ within Germany, 16€ to EU and 35€ to the USA and non EU Europe (and free if you come by and get it yourself
). If you don't wan't to pay this the print is offered to the next winner (and so on).
And additionally: First pick for two Steam/Origin keys from the list of games below.
Second prize: Second pick for two Steam/Origin keys from the list of games below.
Third prize: Third pick for one Steam/Origin key from the list of games below.

Theme
The theme of your shortstory should be:
The painting in question! Your story should in some minor or major way be connected to what you see in the picture. You can include the whole picture or only the smallest detail, your story could revolve around it or just brush it in passing. Just make sure the connection is recognizable. Now that I've got this hanging in my home office, I would love to fill all the little details with meanings and stories
Conditions for participation
- Stories have to be submitted via PM to Gothars until November
15 24. No public posting please, they will get published together after the deadline.
- There is no mandatory registration, but it would be nice if you could send me a timely PM if you plan to participate.
- The maximum word count is 2500 words. Feel free to stay below that though, there is no minimal word count. Quality is judged, not length. Please choose a title for your story.
- It is OK to re-use (and re-model) already written stories. They still have to fit the theme, though. It is also allowed to use (not too big) pictures. Deviating formats like poems, comics, ballads or graphic novels are also allowed.
- You can submit up to two entries.
Conditions for winning
- You should be an active member of the community. What that means precisely we would have to look at in each individual unclear case. I just don't want anybody registering here just to grab prizes.
- I'll judge and rank the stories myself.
I'm happy to accept one or two co-judges, though! (They'd of course be exempt from winning prices in the contest.)
- Depending on participation, maybe there will be some special prizes
I hope many of you will write or craft something and wish you lots of fun doing it!
