I wouldn't ever want someone to come up and rename my ship, but I feel like it'd be cool if it was named the Stork...

This does make it similar to Heron and or Drover in the naming convention. But considering it's a fast moving ship with a hangar bay that goes to affirm a bunch of compromises in order to function. It is not necessarily that out of place for it to be called that...

Also, Storks live in Africa partially, so keeping them in line with animal names after the Scarab, whilst at the same time referring to Drover and Heron would be kinda funny...

But Anubis is fine, I suppose

Stork sounds far too mundane for such a unique ship.

Yeah, Stork is way too basic. Even the most basic ships in Starsector have better names.

Stork sounds far too mundane for such a unique ship.
I had a nightmare once that I exited my house and saw a twelve meters tall stork. The sight put me into such an awe that instead of running, I kneeled and began praying. And then the stork simply kicked me and killed me instantly...

You see, the thing about Tri-Tachyon is that they make things that don't exist. Onslaught, Brawler, Eradicator... These are names that already have meaning. But what meaning does the Stork have? You won't find out till it kills you. You won't find out till you make one.

A perfect idea without that much direction, a network of vague concepts that can be forged into something new...

See? It all makes sense

Lots of cool options imo when it comes to ancient Egyptian-themed names. Here's a few I've commonly used when naming Scarabs in the past:

Thoth (The god of the Moon, wisdom, knowledge, writing, hieroglyphs, science, magic, art and judgment)
Osiris (The god of fertility, agriculture, the afterlife, the dead, resurrection and life)
Hedetet (Goddess of scorpions)
Amun-Ra (King of the gods)
Sekhmet (Warrior goddess of the desert wind)

That said, I do kinda lilke Anubis even though it's a bit "pedestrian" but that seems fitting somehow, very on-brand for (I assume) TT engineers to name their wunderwaffe special ship after the ancient god of the dead..

Hi Alex, would you reconsider different name for upcoming name of ship - Anubis. I ain't from Egypt pantheon. Thanks.
(Wont be able to say in 1 sentence "I like". Afterwards "Anubis".)
Maybe separate the game and real life. I'm sure whatever higher power you believe in will forgive you for saying you like a fictional ship that someone else named after another deity. Not to mention there's already 3 other ships named after deities (4 if you count hyperion).

Shrike and Hyperion should be the face of the game considering the fact that Starsector is literally a spiritual successor to these books

I believe in ultimate power, He is jealous.

Thanks, now I can't play hyperion (didn't knew about it's name etymology). Not that liked it anyway - in contrast :D

You can adjust the names to whatever you like in the ship_data.csv. It is very easy to do, although direct editing of the source file is not advised. Ideally, you should create a little mod with your own copy of the ship data file. Or, if that's too complicated, at least back up the file before editing it.

Well just to make sure you are safe I'll reveal the other three ships you can avoid. Hermes, prometheus, and atlas.
