This thread is meant to provide artists with a place to put free-to-use art assets they wish for the Starsector community. 

With some known exceptions (noteably, DrakonST and some HELMUT reworks) these works are free to use in Starsector mods, without permission (but credit is always appreciated!).

If you are kitbashing using another person's artwork (say, you're combining art from two mods and a Vanilla sprite, because it felt cool) please get permission from the original authors before submitting work here.  The objective of the thread is to provide as much free-of-copyright-concerns art as we can, so that modders have a vast resource to draw upon; when people feel like their hard work has been stolen, it leads to Drama, and this is supposed to be a Drama-free thread.

If people provide direct links to images, I am willing to host them, basically forever, so that your work's not lost over time.

I would like this collection of pixel-art to stay online for everybody for as long as possible, so I'm willing to provide the bandwidth.

If any artists, mod developers etc., see any issues or need corrections made to the main collection here, please PM me and I'll get it straightened out ASAP.

If notified of new works via PM, I'll update artists' portfolios in the OP's as time permits.

Thanks for putting my sprites up there @xenoargh!  

Quick suggestion though: Might want to put spoilers around things. I'd put them around each users' sprites, so they're nicely cataloged by creator.

I probably will at some point, but the Forum doesn't appear to support loading images in Spoilers only if opened (or labeled Spoilers, for that matter) so I'll probably show 3-4 ships in a set for each artist or something.

One of the things that wasn't ideal about the old thread was that art released on say, Page 15 wasn't even noticed by the vast majority of modders, because it wasn't immediately visible and they didn't keep paging through the thread (naturally, but it's still a problem with this kind of archive).  I'd like to strike a better balance, where modders can see, "hey, there's a lot of Stuff here" rather than presuming that if it's not on the first page, it doesn't exist.  So the first page has to be pretty busy, but I agree, spoilering the biggest collections is probably going to be necessary just to cut down on clutter; it's a little overwhelming already, and I think about 50% of it isn't even up yet.

Right now I'm just getting everything cataloged and linked; I'll clean up the messes and clean up the presentation later on

All Medikohl's sprites from StarSector Plus have been uploaded, with permission from Medikohl.  Yay, that makes the collection pretty complete!
