What Capital Should i Buy ?
« on: May 14, 2013, 05:18:09 PM »

Hey i am new to the forms so... HI

Ok right now i have played quite a few hours but i usally like small fleets because it is just so fun but i decided to go get a capital ship.

My current ships are
Eagle Assult Crusier
2 Laser
2 Medusa
and the ship I fly is the Hyperion (it is so much fun to teleport everywere quickly, and i can use him to hunt down escapeing fighters and even ram Cruisers to prevent their escape... i can actully take down a cruiser once on a 1v1)

2nd groupe (i sometimes have them come along but i will ditch them once i get the capital)
Venture Crusier
3 Broadsword
don't really use them that much in combat because the 1st groupe can take down tier 4 pirate peps... most of the time

Ok so the question is what Capital ship should i get? o and btw i may not pilot it (unless that is a bad idea) because that Hyperion is so fun to use ><

Also... a side question
How the heck do you get more ships? the boarding thing seems very random to me... and advise on how to do it efficiently?

well, for capitals, the usuals are onslaught, conquest and odyssey, with paragon after a certain time.

a lot of people will usualy tell you to nab the paragon if you have the opportunity, its just a beast ship

the odyssey is a good all around ship too but the asymetry might put you off.

conquest is good too unless (like me) you hate broadsides)

in the end, an onslaught is quite often a good choice along the odyssey.

well there isint really a clearly superior ship tbh. it always depends on the player.
a lot of player agrees that the paragon is the kingpin of the capitals, but again, the onslaught himself has a big following (and inversely, onslaught are easy to get and paragons arent)

Paragon can handle anything and the Onslaught can handle almost everything, either of those can take down entire fleets by themselves, though the Paragon will do it more efficiently, by not being scratched up to bad

Speaking of getting the Paragon... HOW THE HECK DO YOU GET SHIPS. When i was playing ealie on... i had 3 lashers (one i got) and i thought i can get more... and spent hundreds of fights with no luck of boarding it... eventuly i got the medusa and Hyperion and ect...

But how do you get more ships? because the bases do not resupply (weapons and Ships Both)

do they have 50 ships (fighters included)? if they do, then they don't get new ships. You could also be killing there supply fleets, if you are i want you to think of EXACTLY what your doing, all the causes and effects and everything

The Brown guys have 38 ships (including fighters), Blue Guys have 21, and the Pirates... well i don't buy ships from them... so i don't care.

though if the inventory counts for anything they have like 50+ slots of inventory (like supplies and what notch) used.

Well due to you not saying "oh noes i'm killing all there fleets" then all i can tell you is wait for some new ships, but check out the pirates, they have stuff you can't find anywhere else

Since the stations have room for more ships you may want to stop and pause as soon as the message "a supply fleet for _________ Is in system and on route to the station" look around the map and see if that supply fleet will pass by any hostile area IE the hegemony going right past the TT's base, the TT going right past the hegemony or either going past pirates. IF they are then you should fly out to meet them and give them an escort to the station to make sure the supplies get there.

Also ships are a bit random so you'll just have to cross your fingers and hope that you get a ship and not just a quadrillion fighter wings. ( unless you want a quadrillion fighter wings)

And i'm sure you can figure this out but if a station caps out, buy up all the cheap ships and stash them either in your base or sell them to the pirates since you said you don't care about them.

Also I totally had the name BEFORE the cruiser.

So I should just baby sit the carrier fleets? I know they do land. (though unscathed i do not know so mabey they are supply). Well... i will tell you how it goes... and the only people i ever attack are the pirates... NO PIRATES ESCAPE MY GRASP (except the tier 2 and below)

I love the Conquest, you can make them very very dangerous if you focus all your OP to make 1 super deadly broadside. I also like using MIRVs in the large missile slots because if all the missiles hit you do more damage (I think), and you don't need to turn to aim them like you do with Reapers.

I like the Onslaught as its cheaper, very powerful and has pretty good speed and maneuverability compared to the rest of the Capitals. Burn Drive FTW. It also has a really good range of weapon slots.

pretty good speed and maneuverability compared to the rest of the Capitals.

Except it's the worst in both those categories...?

Burn Drive is nice and all but you can't use it all the time, and the Onslaught is generally about as flexible as refrigerator.
