Is there any way to change it? I play this on multiple computers and I would like to somehow automatically save and load from the shared folder so that I can play one save across both computers. Does anyone know if this is possible? Thanks!

In the Starsector install folder there's a file named vmparams. Make a backup, then open it and change the -Dcom.fs.starfarer.settings.paths.saves= line to point at the folder you want. For example:

-Dcom.fs.starfarer.settings.paths.saves="C:\Users\Rob\Saves\Starsector"

If you find yourself unable to save, you probably don't have write access to that folder.

so how do I get write access to that folder? I'm on my personal computer as the administrator

Right click on the new save folder and select 'properties'. In the Security tab, hit 'Edit', then click on Users in the top box and Write - Allow in the bottom box.

it actually ended up I needed to give myself write permissions for the starfarer folder so I could edit vmparems, but after that it worked. thanks!

Oh, right, sorry. I don't have Starsector installed in Program Files, so the thought didn't even cross my mind.
