Wasp manned. Veterans start deserting.
« on: August 29, 2012, 01:58:22 AM »

Since Wasps are manned now, my Veterans are dropping like flies.
If they have to stay manned we should get option to assign type of crew to a ship/wing.

As a sidenote, to present proper opinion about the new update few words:
I like the changes a lot
Particualrily: better rockets, buffalo, special systems, cloacking is interesting.
just shame on the wasps.

if you only have vet/elite crew how would an option to assign type of crew to a ship/wing help?

well he can have say 20 green/normal crew but because all other ships already are at the threshold they need for better stats they will assign vets/elites to those fighters anyway instead of worse crew...

Yeah, you need enough normal/green crew to 'fill up' all the ships ahead before the wasps can take them.

Honestly I enjoyed them more when they were independent drone squads.  I don't see why we can only have 'ship bound' drones and not ones that can maneuver independent of a host ship.

I don't mind them being manned usually, though I do really like the idea of being able to choose your ship skill level.

Dear Alex,
There should be a battlestation/star fortress fight in the main menu mission mode.  :)

I find the answer to Wasps dropping like flies is "Use more Wasps". No, seriously. With multiple wings attacking a target the point defense is spread thinner, and the target is unable to focus fire on a single wing or chase down fleeing Wasps, so they can easily make it back to your carriers when they need to repair. My current fleet is two carriers and 12 squadrons of wasps, and I've never lost a single wing. Even just two wings attacking a target improves survival rates immensely.

Plus, the image of 72 shorter-ranged tactical lasers firing at a single target is pure bliss. :D

I think it's hilarious. "Sir, a dispatch from HQ just arrived. Drones are only allowed to be deployed from ships, not act alone."
"Well damn," The Admiral of my fleet replies. "I guess we can just rip out the AI bits and stuff some dudes in there."

Excellent example of how quantity can become quality.
