Custom LPCs v1.2.0

Create your own fighter wings in-game!

[How to Use]

Adds 1 hullmod, and 1 fighter wing.

Hullmod can be found during exploration, and wing is sold in independant/pirate/black market.

Apply hullmod to a ship, and the wing will become that ship!

LPC OP cost will dynamically change. Currently it is (DP Cost)*5. Example : https://imgur.com/a/ag8eZFO

It would be interesting to see if we can have multiple customs in the future

Thank you for the suggestion! It should be easy enough with multiple hullmods & fighters but didn't want to clog up the inventory/shop.

I'm planning on making the hullmod clickable (pressing on the remove [-] changes the hullmod to 1-2-3-...) but haven't found a good way to make the LPC not clog up the inventory. I'll consider it in the next update.

Here is an alternate version with the hullmod cost reduced to 0 OP to allow for more ships to use it, such as the LP IED.

Overwrite the file in Custom LPCs\data\hullmods

That's actually kind of amazing. I was all set to release a mod very similar to this, only worse in most ways. I just manually turned all the vanilla frigates into wings. Might still post it here, as it approaches this from a different way.

Was there some trick to this hull mod, or was it fairly easy to make?

This might sound very complicated; would it be possible to let the hullmod create a custom LPC, a brand new item that's unique.  And then you can install it on another frigate and every time it creates a new LPC item that can be used.  I personally don't mind the clutter since I run with so many mods anyways.  That way you don't have to make multiple hullmods to cycle through

Can i turn my Valorius class from Iron shell into wing? Will it keep using its unique ship system and hullmods? What about hullmods from other mods?

How well does the Custom LPC hullmod work if applied to a frigate-sized ArmA Armatura strikecraft/mech?

Forget the WINGCOM shenanigans; that kind of interaction would most likely be buggy.
But I do intend to see if all the other hullmod/S-mod effects carry over correctly, especially with that mod's innate "return-to-carrier-for-repair/rearm" mechanic...

Shipsystems, hullmods of any kind (Vanilla, Modded, D-mods, S-mods etc) will carry over. Only think it won't carry over is the captain.

I've given it a shot and the "return-to-carrier-for-repair/rearm" part works, although the CR penalty with high DP ones like the hidden mechs may cause the mech to instantly dock after popping out. (Will fix CR and pop back out)

Hullmods of any kind, whether it be the weapon config of mechs, S-mods, D-mods, RAT special hullmods, Emergent threats hullmods etc all work.

As for the mod itself, you can find the source code here: https://github.com/ymfah/CustomLPCs/tree/main/src/data/hullmods

It was easy enough to do, nothing advanced like experimental hullmods.

The way it works is that the carrier spawns some dummy invisible wings -> the invisible wing searches for ships with the Custom LPC hullmod -> if found, spawns said ship and set collision to fighter and setdrone to true.

If the frigate dies, kill the invisible wing so that the carrier can start making new ones.

That's...actually an ingenious way of doing it! A bit convoluted, but allows you to achieve a truly custom fighter of whatever you want. Am I right in assuming that also spawning in the craft the fighters are based on results in oddities, or is that stable? And thanks, I appreciate it!
