with the upgrade to burst and LR PD, the EM pulse ability would be really redundant.
How so?

I assume the EM pulse will also do massive emp damage to ships in range.  :D

Hm a omen with missle croud control and speed. I think with another energy mount it might work great Capitol escort spots targets and protects from torps.

I got the brawler gun ship has temporary armor lock the mediums become 50 degree turrets plus two small rear turrets about 150 degree for pd and 50 op points.

Actually, I'm hoping for some strafe jets on the brawler. Heck, even the turbo boost thing the onslaught has would be awesome.

Armor lock would be cool though. Halts your speed but your invincible then you let of all the damage in a big AOE. Onslaught be ware. Also the brawler needs some rear pd mount.

Armour lock makes absolutely no sense to me.

Seconded. Seriously.
Maneuvering jets would be great on it too.

Better armor lock: Armor is double/triple tough, but 1/4th the speed.

What about a Smoke screen ability? Makes a temporary nebula that only slows down enemy ships? That could be useful. (or something that negates the effects of natural nebula)

Dear Alex,
There should be a battlestation/star fortress fight in the main menu mission mode.  :)

Or it could be the combat teleport. Infernium is only used for intersystem engines. He did mention switching to those engines in combat for a gigantic speed boost, so big that you'd flameout if you so much as bumped an asteroid.

That actually was in the video, toward the end.  As the Onslaught was flying up before destroying the Aurora, the flames out of the engine looked almost as big as the ship itself and that thing was flying.

My only gripe about flares is that it appears they can be shot down or hit by missiles.  At best, they are about the size of your fist!  I don't think anything other than maybe a Swarmer would have a snowball's chance in hell to hit that tiny thing.

Well they are "Space Flares" sooo...

And it does way more then normal flares which are just heat sources, these actually interfere with the missiles tracking to the point where they will turn around, all that hardware needs some room so they are bigger.

Makes sense right ^_^ :P

Well, what do these flares have in them?  We all know the normal flare, a nice bright spot to confuse "heatseeking" missiles (most of the missiles today, like the Stinger), but how do other missiles like the Harpoon or Pilum track?

No clue :P

The way normal Flares work is that the missile goes after the flare instead of the aircraft.
But Space Flares do more as you can clearly see the missiles turning around instead of going for the flares. This means that these flares mess with the electronics inside the missile ( or the remote guidance) instead of changing the missiles target.
