How to raise relations with a faction "at a distance" without having to try sneak past their patrol to reach  their spaceport?

Doing their missions - exploration ones are particularly easy. The faster method are system bounties, usually they are caused by pirates activity. After you get past hostile you can try and seek out trade contact for somewhat more reliable system bounties outside core worlds

What Nettle said. Bounties and exploration are the easiest, but don't offer a lot of change/mission. If you see a system bounty, that's a much faster way to get faction friendly back. You won't initially be able to join battles already in progress until the faction is back to (suspicious, I think?) some level around -20, but system bounties happen faster and will quickly swing the needle far enough to be able to dock. Then just unload a bunch of those gamma cores you've been collecting.

Another method, I might add, is to get a lot of AI cores you don't need and head to a target faction's free port/market without a military building. Handing them over gives you tons of relations if you bring enough.

Places I go to boost relations with AI core handovers are :

Port Tsee Franchise Station (Tri Tachyon - Mayasura) and Tibicena (Tri Tachyon - Magec) both are free ports so no transponder = nobody cares.
Mairaath (Persean League - Mayasura) it doesn't have a patrol HQ so you can simply go in and give AI cores to authorities.
Citadel Arcadia (Hegemony - Arcadia) Hegemony doesn't have free ports, but with 2 asteroid belts near Arcadia you can hide from patrols even with big fleets to drop off cores.
Tartessus (Luddic Church - Eos Exodus) Usually doesn't have patrols around but patrols launched from Hesperus in-system go around points of interest. Transverse jumping directly lets you freely drop off cores.
Cruor (Sindrian Diktat - Askonia) No military building and close enough to asteroids to sneak away.

If you want to please everyone, including pathers and pirates, then grab a frigate tanker and do derelict scan missions.

You can boost your efficiency by setting up comm sniffers in systems with multiple factions, so you can get their missions remotely whenever you come into range of a comms array
