Someone care to translate this to common language? D: i dont understand what's wrong...

Edit: Hmmm... i found my solution... the problem is with my AMD Radeon 6870 HD drivers... i heard that the latest drivers are extremely glitchy and people are having problems with them everywhere


Edit2: Update on this... i found out that rerolling back to older drivers worked for me on this... I recommed that people with AMD cards do this.

Well i'm not sure if you can do anything about it on your end... since the problem lies with AMD's latest drivers being a pain in the ass! Meh.. I'm hoping that AMD does something about.. or a much better solution for me is to get a new graphics card.

Yeah, I just mean that it helps me to know what the problem is, if someone else has it. Definitely not looking like something that could be fixed in SF, short of moving to software rendering, and nobody wants that :D

Ha, the 6870 seems pretty new to me...

Are you talking about the Rage drivers being a mess? I definitely needed them to play Rage (which, as the name implies, is what they were made for), but they don't seem to get along with Java very well-- I had to rollback to play Minecraft.

Hm, that's kinda weird. I installed the rage drivers, and I am running Starfarer just fine. I am running Radeon 5700.

Not sure what drivers mate... i dont own rage... i rerolled my drivers to 11.1 if i remember.. the basic AMD Display Driver... it worked for me... and besides... currently rage doesn't work on AMD very well.. or it's just a pain in the ass to get it working.

Update on this: I found out the the retail AMD drivers suck.... a friend of mine is using "optimized" AMD drivers.. which are... let's just say better than the original one's... the game works fine for me with the optimized drivers. A word of warning though!

So AMD users.. make you're choice... personally i took the "risk" and downloaded and installed it and the game works fine! It had a random crash though on one of the missions... gonna see if i can reproduce it.

Hmmm. I've tried running on two different computers with two different generations of NVidia GPU's (GTX 8600 and GTX 550 Ti). Still having the same problem.

It's encouraging to hear that software fixes seem to have an effect on this error though. Can't wait to figure out what the fix for me will be.

Hi,

Just bought the game today as it looks awesome but it won't let me play in full screen. I get the same error as the other people in this thread.

I have tried updating drivers but there already up to date.

Running windows 7
Phenom Quad core
Geforce GT240
3GB Ram

Cheers for any help and it does work as long as I untick full screen but would like to fix it, if I could.
