Universal Loadouts
« on: April 03, 2012, 01:21:03 PM »

I would love to be able to load my "Light Lasher" loadout from one of my save files to my brand new save file. I'd rather those loadouts be saved game-wide rather than be restricted to the save file I saved it on.

It would be even better an online database of community loadouts :D

That's something we can easily make ourselves. Really easily.

We can make one ourself but if you want lots of load outs to pic from it needs to be easily accessible to everyone without undue effort- I.e. No mod to install, and no having to upload files from the game folders. If you could upload a design with a few clicks from the refit menu that would be awesome.

Yeah but imagine the same refit screen with all possible ships, weapons and loadouts, shared with the community on a site with comments and ratings. Gorgeous!

I can code python... but wouldn't javascript or something more easily embedded in a webpage be better? If you have a particular implementation in mind then fair enough, but I'm not sure if python is the best suited...

I support this though and would be willing to at least take a look at it. I'm rather busy at the moment so no promises - if someone else is more interested then by all means proceed!

[Edit] It kind of looks like the ship editor online already has a variant database? I'm not sure... http://sseditor.dyndns.org/sse/dev/#

I just know its possible to make programs for this in python, but if you would rather use java then help yourself.

I agree with the Ops suggestion, it would speed up playthroughs. I assume it would be simple enough to make the game save loadouts to a folder which it then can read to look at in new games.
