ED doesn't let you colonize planets or properly join factions.  With Nexerilin installed, Starsector now the factions are actively doing stuff in the sector that matters.  It's all that I wish ED did.

If we're mixing the two games, please just let me do meaningful stuff with the information I get from exploring the galaxy.

Starsector is kind of like Elite except prettier and more engaging.

/s I haven't actually played Elite so I can't say. It looks neat. Starsector manages a whole lot on its own just with its measly 2 dimensions though.
