Except, if you lower your shields, and don't fire, you get an engine boost. While that Aurora with its longer ranged weapons will fire, slowing it down. Then its just a matter of tanking the hits till you're in range, then obliterating them.
You don't even need to tank the hits on your hull after you gained momentum. When you reach the maximum, boosted speed you can just let go of the throttle key and turn your shields back on, you won't lose speed until you try to accelerate again.
The issue with this is that if you maneuver (Strafe) at all, you drop speed as well. The Aurora can maneuver around you and, even though you'd be faster, it'd be able to strafe and you wouldn't without losing speed.
As for "Tanking with the hull", most Auroras I see are packing Heavy Blasters and you DON'T want to "tank" those on the hull.
