Finding Pirate Bases?

I'm new to the game (Just started playing about a week ago). My colony I set up is being constantly disrupted by pirate activity and raids. It says the location of the base is unknown but is likely to be somewhere nearby. My question is how do I go about finding it? Is there some way other than blindly stumbling around from system to system looking for it?

Good luck. Currently another one will pop up nearly immediately afterwards. So it's not really worth doing at -1 stability malus.
