Late game crashes. Trying to find what causes this.

Hello everyone. I'm having a difficult time trying to read and find the culprit of this error. Can anyone give me an insight of this error log ?

This reproducible error happens when i opened my own colony's ship storage which contain some modded ships (around 6-7 ships i believed). It CTD instantly.

This kind of crash also happen randomly on my old late game heavily modded save when i tried to prioritize my patrol ships in doctrine or when i visited trade menu (I forgot to keep those error logs but it showed the similar unknown source error like above one)

So i've found the cause of this problem. It was related to my custom autofit. Once i tried removing my own loadout from list, all the problems that causes Fatal:Null
 from Re-generate heavy patrol sample to newly built ship that did not use my custom loadout were now fine without any crashes.. which is very weird...

In case this might be useful for additional information. I also searched around the ship that crashed my game in ship storage (I tried deleting these line and my ship storage is now functional.. phew..)

So in conclusion.. Why does my custom loadout causes crash ?? IDK.. but it worked fine if i clicked autofit myself and delete that cursed loadout to prevent game from using my loadout and cause Fatal:Null.

Maybe two screenshoots of them will be better to see.

The first use ORA weapons and SRD weapons, but no reason to cause the problem...

This is a module ship than you use from my mod, but do not seems the cause like you have also a no-broken case.


Maybe we have fatal null because he cannot replicate your custom layout because he do not have the blueprint for them? But weird, very weird.

IDK... since this happened to most of my custom loadout that regenerated in fleet doctrine... (Not all ships causes crash with my custom loadout).

**Also happened to built ship that used my custom loadout in ship storage.**

So far, here are all the ships in my playthrough that causes Fatal:Null when adding them to autofit goal variants.

I suspect that it has something to do with incompatibity when saving modded hull mod into autofit goal variants ?

Since all of my ships that caused Fatal:Null were included their own modded hulls.

But strangely enough.. This one didn't cause crashes at all (Also have modded hull.. a different one of course)

Also what they all had in common is the Medium weapon slot but... it's unlikely the cause of crash since most ships were fine even with those weapon slots installed.

That's all the update so far but yeah... Very weird bug indeed.

kinda problematic to pinpoint without knowing the exact source of the exception. There are some posts around the board that are talking about changing the jre of starsector from 7 to 8, you would need to change into jdk 7u80, this would give you the info (unknown source) as JRE can't pinpoint errors originating from class files that are in a JAR archive.

@Tigrextreme: Think I could get a copy of one of your affected save files? And possibly a zipped mods folder?

I also searched around the ship that crashed my game in ship storage (I tried deleting these line and my ship storage is now functional.. phew..)
It looks like "Broken" is shorter than "Not Broken," but you said you fixed it by deleting lines.  Are they swapped?

Edit: But if i would have to take a wild guess then the Problem would lie somewhere between Automatic Orders + (any other mod that adds Hull mods) + 30% Traits Starship legends.
Starship Legends has been available for four months without anyone reporting anything like this to me, but with a crash like this? Who knows. The fact that the problematic goal variants all have reputation hullmods has me suspicious enough to try to get to the bottom of this in case it is caused by starship legends. I haven't managed to reproduce this by messing with goal variants that include reputation hullmods, but there's likely more to it.

Didn't assume that starship legends was the origin of this, it would be more something alike the getaway car driver if this was a bank-robbery ... jjk.

Yikes... I used to play with version 1.0.1 i believed... then updated it... to current version (completely forgot the warning). But this Fatal:Null also happened to old save before Vayra separate his mod into 3 packs so idk.. gotta try new save to test things out again.
