setting up colonies.

well this is one I missed completely. how do I set up a colony?

Get 1000 people a lot of suplies and some heavy machinery go to a scaneed planet and then you start your colony

I am missing something. I got 100 machinery,1300 ppl, and 270 supplies yet no option to colonize appears.

did you click on a planet you did scan, by the way if it has ruins you should explore then to unlock the colony screen

I clicked all over the place. I tried clicking on the ruins icon but nothing happens. do I need a special kind of ship in my fleet or something? I am missing something really basic here.

I got 100 heavy machinery, 1449 ppl, and 231 supplies. clicking on the ruins icon does nothing.

do I need actual survey data on hand also? then again I found a planet, scanned it, but still nada.
and my screen does not show the other option like yours does.

No, you don't need the survey data in hand, you just need to have run a survey of the planet. Are you running with mods? It's possible a mod has borked this somehow, I suppose.

Could you post a screenshot of what you're seeing?

no no mods at all.
I tried uploading a screen cap but it says its too large. but there is nothing really to see. the option to colonize is just not there. I don't even get the menu that says I don't have enough resources there is just nothing.

When you interact with a planet (by left clicking on it) what dialog options does it give you?

that's it
is there some kind of quest or something I was supposed to do at the start of the game or something? it seems like something failed to unlock. I am not even seeing the menus others have showed me saying they lack certain X material to colonize.
