I don't understand what people liked about Oblivion. If I had to rate the Elder Scroll games, I'd give Morrowind a 10, Oblivion a 4 and Skyrim a 7. The only good things I can think of is the combat system was slightly improved (blocking) and the Dark Brotherhood questline was good. It was dumbed down compared to Morrowind and the world was one giant boring forest of redundance. Level scaling is for p*ssies and so is the compass, it ruins exploration. Skyrim fixed a few of the major problems by having an interesting world and trying to hide the level scaling but left a few of the major problems in (compass, objective markers, level scaling still sucks in its new form).

Magicka is fun but gets repetitive when you realize that any effort to be creative with your spellcasting is rewarded by death. You're encouraged to find a handful of efficient spells and spam them.

i mainly liked and still like oblivion because it was the first Elder scrolls game i ever really played, when Morrowind came out i never played it i was too busy with other games in fact up to oblivion i had never even heard of the Elder scrolls series

as for Magicka i never really have had a problem with having to spam spells except in PVP. In PVP as soon as someone gets the summon elemental spell its basically game over.

I thought I'd replay Deus Ex again (the original) on Hard. Like the difficulty suggests, it is HARD! I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I seem to pick the most *** route, get to the place I'm supposed to go, THEN I realise that there were about 12 other ways, less dangerous, ways to go.

Tribes: Ascend like a few others. It's just epic fun when you get into a CTF match with some actual team play instead of everyone thinking it's deathmatch.
Elemental: Fallen Enchantress beta. A lot of fun actually, IMO it will make up for the less than stellar WoM release from Stardock.
Firing up Sword of the Stars 2 every couple of patches, it's getting there, slowly but steadily, of course there are people raging still though, lol.
And finally, Crusader Kings 2. Seeing Norway almost getting torn apart by civil war if it wasn't for the homosexual duke of Iceland loving the king (that is also queer) is all kinds of awesome and made me lol pretty hard.

Instead of focusing on managing a nation, it focus on family/dynasty, whatever its called. You start by selecting an historic king/vassal and try to set your goals (very sandboxy), such as getting into marriage for bigger power/forming an alliance, expanding family tree (which will try to steal your throne if you aren't carefully) etc. If you made a child, you will control him once your main character dies and it continues.
It still have the elements of EU3 economics, war, diplomacy, easily recognicable. Very deep game, you should try it.

So is it like The Guilds 2 at all? That game focused on a dynasty and you had control of a couple of characters.

Haven't played The Guilds.

It's strictly a simulator, you aren't really on the ground with them. It's mostly text and pictures, if you judge it from screenshots.
