This dialog makes more clear if a story point is being used and avoids instances when there is no standard recovery available and the player accidentally wastes story points thinking that the only available recovery options are standard.

I actually experimented with that; I forget what the issues were, but I remember feeling like it wasn't working out for some reason. Hmm. Might be worth another look at some point!

One issue I remember is that the recover all button doesn't work.

Have the All button only select standard recovery. If there are no standard recoveries, grey it out.

I'd say make the "all" button target the normal recovery on a click and target both upon double clicking it.

Counter point, is the "all" button that important? I'd rather have instead a button to recover "losses", that selects only your own ships normal and difficult recoveries alike.

This! I also use the alternative salvage interface and I love it much more than the two page system that is the default . And with a losses button, it would be perfect.
