game does not start

When i start the game, nothing happens. Java and Starfarer visible processes in Task Manager. Depends only a blank window. Please help solve this problem.

I have a laptop with windows 7, and last version of java.

Hi - sorry about the trouble.

Can you update your graphics drivers and see if that helps?


Also, there should be a log file - "starfarer.log" under C:\Program Files\Fractal Softworks\Starfarer\starfarer-core
Any error messages should be near the end, in the last hundred lines or so - it would help to see them.

I have integrated graphics card. Latest drivers installed

in the log file no error messages

Can you post the contents of the logfile anyway? Might have some useful information there. (pastebin or some such is probably a good place to put it).

What kind of graphics card is it?

Also: please make sure that your display mode is set to 32-bit.

Sorry, but you can tell how you can remove JAVA_OPTS ... i soo lam in this :c

Right click on My Computer -> Properties -> Advanced tab -> Environment Variables button. At least, on Windows XP.

How about the display mode and the log file contents?

Thanks for posting the log.

Question: how long are you waiting for the game to start? From the logs, it looks like the loading process is chugging along until it's interrupted.  (At best, it got about 10% of the way through)

You should be seeing a loading bar, though...


If you're absolutely certain that your graphics drivers are up-to-date, I'd suggest reverting to a slightly older driver version. There are cases when a new driver release actually introduces bugs. Not very often, but I've seen this help a couple of times so far.

Might it have to do with RAM?  Just throwing that out there.

I've got a one-year old laptop with Windows 7 and I haven't updated the graphics card, and it works fine (aside from lag on the system, but that's just when there's a top of small fleets - back on topic).

well i thought it was about "inpatient" when i read "nothing happends" becouse i have similar thing (when i double click on ".exe" file then i have to wait min or two before "start game" will appear)
but the part about "black window" was confuseing to me
i recomended to hit starfarer.exe & go take shower or something if nothing happend's then we know its not your fault
