General Discussion / Re: In-game Ship Creator
« on: June 15, 2012, 03:06:56 AM »
It doesn't need an full alteration of the game engine. (Guys, Seriously stop saying that a big change requires an alteration of the game engine :P)

it would require a networking function that the game does not have...

What?

I think he means if you want to include a database with all the ships users have created. And this would not require a alteration of the game engine. Only a addition, which is a *Lot* less work. :P

Ship Systems are looking very good!

An idea for a drawback to Fast Missile Racks could be that the next reload takes ±1,5 the normal time. So:
Fire > Activate Ship System > ±instant reload > fire > 1.5 times normal reload

That makes it a slightly more tactical decision while not making it be a major downside.
(You come up with how to justify that i'm not *that* creative :P )

Oh come on, everone knows that was Darth Vader.
You Carl (that you probably won't get)

I do not understand this sentence: "You Carl". Wut???
It's a reference, you get a cookie-cake if you get it... :D

I got it, and i'm pretty sure "IIE16 Yoshi" did too.... THERUSSIANBADGER, right?

OT:
i'm not sure, it would add a lot of work for Alex, yet -too me at least- add little extra to the game. I'm spending enough time already in the refit screen / simulation screen. :P
Congrats, you got a cookie!  :D

Edit: i've no clue what happend to my post...

No clue :P

The way normal Flares work is that the missile goes after the flare instead of the aircraft.
But Space Flares do more as you can clearly see the missiles turning around instead of going for the flares. This means that these flares mess with the electronics inside the missile ( or the remote guidance) instead of changing the missiles target.

Well they are "Space Flares" sooo...

And it does way more then normal flares which are just heat sources, these actually interfere with the missiles tracking to the point where they will turn around, all that hardware needs some room so they are bigger.

Makes sense right ^_^ :P

14, 15 tomorrow  ;D
and yeah this community is really awesome, i can just get lost in ready interesting ideas and civilized discussions about this game and even the discussions forum is fun to read. When i then go to the Battlefield forums, i am usually done within the minute because of the complete incompetence (?) of 99% there, and i even the Kerbal Space Program forums is a complete mess, so i sort of hope this community stays small.... But i wish Alex all the sales he can get so yeah.

Slightly off topic rant... :-\

25
no that's what i meant, it's being sold everywhere, while in the changelog it said only pirate base :P

26
oh didn't know that :P
and the Mark IX Autocannon? i believe it said in the changelog that it would be available in the pirate base. I could be wrong though

i don't know if these are bugs or intentional, but:
you can't repair at the pirate base
and the Mark IX Autocannon is available at all stations and not just the pirate one.

Yeah i use dropbox to backup my current code for my current project, so i always have a backup of the most recent version.
but it's horrible for version control or big files

i forgot what it's called, but there is this system where it only back's up changed files, this makes for faster and smaller backups. Certainly if you want to keep older ones, cause only changed files are saved and not all.

I think the program was called Cobian backup or something

seems like tomorrow is gonna e release:
twatter:
   Linux and Mac testing successful.
@amosolov ooooh, that means windows is done? or that it's not yet... ^_^
@stardidi Dev is on windows - the Linux/Mac testing is to ferret out OS-specific "surprises".
