Those worlds have a low hazard rating (not "habitability", as you call it) ... do you realise that hazard rating factors into the upkeep cost of industries and structures directly?

Does the system have a gate?

I have turned down great systems before just because they were missing a stargate.  These days, I consider a stargate a must for system colonization just for quality-of-life purposes (after I finish the main story).

No it does not. There is one in a nearby star system about 5 days away at maximum burn. I would need to check the other surrounding systems to be sure there is not a closer one.

So I was doing a luddic path run and I have been truly blessed.

I found a system that is east of the core, it's an orange star called Beta Svanga. It does not have any domain era space infrastructure but it has 3 stable locations so you can make sensors arrays, coms relays and nav. buoys.

It has a Terran world with 75% habitability. It is very good for farming and a regular amount of organics and ores so you can add soil nanites.

It has a barren world that had +3 ore and rare ore. It is extremely hot and has no atmosphere. It has vast ruins, when I explored them I found a synchrotron core.

It has 3 other habitible planets that idividually are not very impressive.

And a gas giant, a plasma dynamo will easily make it very productive. (I already found 1)

Did I also mention that there is a cryosleeper in the system?

When you do the quest to find the missing ludic knight trying to infiltrate the path the event where sedge kidnaps you becomes a permanent fixture of that planet.

Sedge clearly is a high ranking member of the path as you can go from having +100 relations to -74 just by shooting Sedge in the back over and over again. Either that or Sedge has a stupendous amount clones.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I think I'll go with Goumindongs suggestion. I have a cautious officer (only one that isn't reckless or aggressive), if I find a second one I'll make an artillery one as per Ruddys idea and see how it works as an artillery unit in the hands of the AI.

I liked your suggestion on the path. There needs to be more interaction with them and effects from supplying them, be it smuggling arms and marines or player colonies selling them ships due to friendly relations. A world with a single pristine nanoforge or synchrotron will only generate 4 interest right now meaning you won't get pather cells on your worlds. Selling them ships and infernum (what Pathers call antimatter fuel) should cause major ripple effects across the sector.

So today I found a barren planet with no atmosphere and an inimical biosphere. At first I thought this must be a bug but, I'm sure you could come up with some kind of justification for this combination like silicon based life forms that would try grazing on any habitats or cities you dropped on the surface but still it's quite strange.

Has anyone else found any unusual or wacky planets in vanilla that have strange feature combinations?

Thanks! Hmm. The save you've sent me appears to load - do you have the latest hotfix, -RC12? That fixed a save-loading issue that may have been the culprit here.

It works, I redownloaded the game. I hadn't downloaded the most recent hotfix. Sorry for bothering you.

no mods just the vanilla game, sent it off just now

I actually noticed it yesterday when I hit f9. I was still in game so I was able to avoid losing the whole game by simply hitting f5.

So my current save won't load. It says failed calling method and a bunch of other stuff. Can anyone help me? I'd really hate to loose all my progress.

-Human population normally does not grow fast, the demographic transition being the anomaly.

I'm curious, in the lore is the population of the sector continuing to dropping with the constant warfare?

Hi - thank you for the report! Yeah, it's a known issue - fixed for the (shortly) upcoming release.

Thanks for the quick reply. Glad its already being taken care of. Yet another thing to look forward to when the update comes out.  :D
