If you wanna get technical, OP, the ships in Starsector look nothing like what actual space fighters/etc would look like. The most effective and economical design would be a cube with engines on each side, and guns facing on one direction. Basically the same with the ships.

(Also I think having exposed cockpits on space fighters/whatever is really dumb, in this age of pinpoint accurate lasers...)

Mods / Re: [0.65.2a] Hiigaran Descendants v1.1.0
« on: December 21, 2015, 12:17:36 AM »
Hello guys,

I'm sorry to say that due to personal reasons I've had to focus on other things.

I've tried getting Hiigarans and Bushi running on 0.71a but so far no luck. I've been out of the loop for so long that don't know where to start. I've managed to clear the errors on start-up but the screen just turns black or flickers when it finishes loading with the mods added, the music plays and I can hear the buttons click if I move the cursor around, not sure whats going on at the moment.
I'm looking into a solution, and I'll post an update if i find it.

Cheers.

That actually looks like the no memory bug you usually experience when you load up SS+ without enough memory. Try the memory increasing fix and see if that helps. You might be adding too much stuff, somehow.

Well, I've discovered a creative use for saboteurs. Using SS+ and this mod I go to a station/planet I know has a fair amount of food, buy it all up and then deploy saboteurs to destroy food stocks. Prices quickly skyrocket, and I make a huge profit. Just make 500K in Prism doing that, and it only took 1 relationship hit.

Mods / Re: [0.7.1a] Starsector+ Vanilla Enhancement Mod 3.0.0

Hmn. My game simply blackscreens with SS+ enabled. The game still appears to be running. Music, menu sounds, etc. But the screen, apart from my cursor, is completely black. And yes, I do have the other three things that go with it checked.

Err.. Help?
I'd had this a couple of times before; not running so many mods at once made it go away.

But.. I'm only using the mods that SS+ requires... Lazylib and Shaderlib, same problem still.

Edit: and the problem has randomly gone away. Yay?

5/10 Maybe its the crap earphones or just the usual distortion in modern battlefields's music.. But I didn't like it too much.

Also, suprised to see this thread run as long as it has. Ha!

Bug Reports & Support / Loading times unchanged when on an SSD.
« on: February 17, 2015, 10:07:22 PM »
Well.. Exactly as it is in the title, the loading times for the game seen unchanged or not noticably better when all files are placed on an SSD. In my case, a 128GB Samsung 840 EVO, acting as my boot drive, but with 40GB free. Is there a technical reason for the unchanged load times? Its still plenty fast, loading any other game I put on it at blistering speeds, as well as my OS

Bug Reports & Support / Lost my Key again. *facepalm*
« on: September 14, 2013, 08:15:13 AM »
So... Yeah. I lost my product key a while ago. 6+ months, when my computer died and needed a new hard drive.

I was just too lazy at the time to get a new code, with the game still being the same. Now that the 0.6 update is out I wanna play it again! Sorry for the inconvenience, Alex.

Along withe those Youtube comments I suppose I should mention this.

Your Medbay doesn't always need power. In the start you can turn it off to give another power to engines. Oh, and Doors, Sensors and AI Pilot don't require power.

You can check the evade chance in the top left of the screen, too. Near the HP bars.

Other than that, if you can, fight invaders in the Medbay. Your guys get healed, they don't. Easy win. (Suffocating them is easier, but if they're going after a system, you may just want to fight them. Only worth it really if it's the oxygen system.)

Heya, Axiege. Just a tip for your FTL attempts. Get level 2 doors ASAP. They stop fires, boarders, and are generally better in every way. Plus it's only 30 Scrap.

Oh, and a man on engines is a lot of the time better than a man on shields. The extra dodge chance is a great help, speaking of that, upgrade your engines! 5% doesn't sound like much, but it's a lot.
Burst Laser MkII (The Three shot burst one?) Is probably the best damage to energy ratio in the game.

Actually! I just got DkS on PC So, if you turn human and start summoning people look for my Xbox Live name, or whatever it is, I'll edit it in tomorrow.

I should be able to get to where you are in about an hour and a half.

Oh, and what time do you start playing, in Australian Time?

Yes, He's the 'Praise the Sun!' guy. If you have completed all the dialogues with him and said yes you should be able to summon him by the boss, or other people, in fact, when you're human. Just look for the gold or white glowing markings on the ground.

and no. The Drake Sword isn't that good, and I think you don't have the strength to wield it anyway. Just focus on upgrading your sword. Unless it's already +5 then upgrade your preferred armour to whatever you can afford.

That familiar would be Knight Solaire. You have to be human to summon him. His summon sign is right by the door to the boss. (They're Phantoms by the way.)
and being human means getting a Humanity (number in the top left circle thing), going to a bonfire and reversing your Hollowing... Just in case you didn't know.

OH! and you have to have completed his dialogue tree back where you first met him on the bridge.
