Funny enough I came to the forum today to make the same post, I will reply to yours instead.

I've been playing a long time but I have been avoiding the last few versions to let it all build up. Playing through the LC pilgrimage was wonderful and quite immersive. Its a pity it teeters off a bit once that whole arc plays out, I was getting close to playing a hard nosed Knight of Ludd... Regardless it really shows how far the story has come for the game.

Alex you really are making an amazing game, but you know that already.

The questions are meaningless, for time is elastic. Excellence will not be rushed by crying of mortals, singing ancient and honorable hymn of Shut Up And Take My Money. Instead, become one with the Tao of dev-timeTM, and you will have achieved true Nirvana-like patience with the blessed Alex (glory unto his name). The path to fulfillment beckons. Fear God! Honor the King! Smash the [REDACTED]! So sayeth Drunken Master.

As someone who has been following the game only a few posts after you did and bought it a couple months later I relate to this on a spiritual level. Time has lost meaning, what has this game done to me.. Worth it though.

So I checked the subreddit

Ah, I see your problem..

Very cool post! I'm loving those visual effects, I hope they mesh well with the existing effects and weapons. So you like playing some Brigador then? I'm playing it heaps at the moment, really good stuff..

This makes the Hyperion reasonably effective, but has run into two flaws:
1: It's not actually fun to fly like this.
2: Giving it a large amount of extra PPT strongly devalues its small missile slots.

Twin Antimatter Hyperion vs a 6 or so ships plus a capital never gets old for me at least. Will I run out of ammo, CR or health first, or will I walk away with an immaculate victory.. I love the Hyperion for late game fun, I get it all sorted out so I start approaching combat like the Clans from Battletech and try to leave with the smallest weakest fleet. Then under deploy every time and fight against dropping CR. Love it. Bonus points to the record for every ship that makes it back to home base once the expeditions up.

I still find it crazy I bought this like just 17 days shy of 8 years ago, at the recommendation of another friend who always found interesting stuff off the beaten path. Over the years I've brought this game up to friends and I'd get a few questions here or there but little interest. Suddenly, this video comes out and those same people are then messaging me telling me they've found something I'd probably like and how they're thinking of getting it... and as I had to remind them again, I've had it forever!

Bruh.. It is mind numbing when people do this, good job keeping your sanity.

You will get used it, and that isn't saying gitgud, it's just saying that it takes awhile to acclimate to it all. Personally I took to the game like a fish to water but my friend had all the same issues you have stated when he started. It took awhile but he can play half asleep these days. In regards to having no sense of movement, when I'm not in direct combat I like to open the map and unpause, since the ship will keep moving in the same direction without input. That way I get a sense of scale and movement, plus the additional info is a great bonus.

You madlad, I dont' know why you'd do it, but you did it. Good work.

I can see you have been kicking this around for a long time Alex, it feels like the last piece of the puzzle just clicked into place for me. Essentially these story points fix most the currents weaknesses of Starsector and turn them into strengths and opportunities for player narrative instead. I think getting bonus points as a one off for doing cool things is a good idea too but overall I think you've nailed it in one. The bonus exp for certain choices keeps them from being hoarded, very simple and effective solution, and the fact that they are essentially infinite should keep the ball rolling well into end game. Maybe a small bonus too for having no story points left? I can't wait to see this in action.. Great work mate  :)
