I wouldn't really call them awesome, more like 'kinda decent'. To be honest they are a product of a very boring evening, too much coffe and a kittbashing frenzy caused by a sentiment of the too evident lack of Homeworld3 ;) I do plan to make more and use them in Distant Worlds somewhere in the future but for now I think they could be put to good use in Gotcha's mod. I've seen what you've done with my old sprites and I must say I am really impressed. The modified ships look really great.

Also, is there really a thing here called 'spriter judgment thread'? I don't mind displaying the ships, though I am not sure if they qualify without being properly shrunk and 'cartoonized' first.

EDIT: Oh, and that's large res pngs. They should look ok after shrinking, or in any case a tiny bit of sharpening should do the job. If any of u mods GSB feel free to use them :)

If you don't mind I could send you the sprites I have, that I mentioned. If you think they would be any good for your mod you could maybe use them? Not as a separate mod but an extension of the Hiigaran Decendants. Just as the blue ships only remind of higaran ships, those aren't identical to those from game (apart form some iconic fighters and a destroyer :P). I'm sure their exsistance could be justified. Maybe they could be a part of a splinter group that separated from the original fleet after they arrived in starsector? Or whatever else would make sense. It's always true that more variety in a mod can make it much more fun to play. What do you say Gotcha?

With 3000 years before vaygr it's hard for them to invade, I agree. I understand though, modding is a lot of work and rarely easy. I ask mostly because I have a bunch of vaygr ship sprites lying about and was looking for some kind soul to adopt them :P Plus it would be really cool to see vaygr on higaara fight vid ^^

So Gotcha, are you still working on this mod? If yes, would you consider expanding it with vaygr race? Or considering the mod backstory - a Vaygr'ish race or a race originating from vaygr?

 :o ?! MLP - Friendship is (mild) porn ? Not sth I'd expect to see when playing mod based on a cartoon about little ponies  ;D. Vandala you sure it's a good idea to put that stuff in a mod potentially targeted by kids? I know it's mild and I do think it's an interesting idea to add to a sci-fi mod but not necessarily this one.  Maybe it would be a good idea to put the 'spicy files' in a password protected archive and send it by pm to the interested adults or sth ?  :-\ Dude, U might get skinned and eaten alive (they wouldn't even spare the hat and the cloak) by the religious types if there are any here :P

Not sure what you mean by the bloom, but I agree the changling ship needed some re-texturing. I had some spare time today so I played with it a bit. I think it looks better now. Here's a link to a small picture: Small pic

Ship looks awesome from different angles.  :D

Somewhat tempted to use Trylobot's ship editor and play with that changeling fighter. Hrm, looking a bit closer, is it me, or are there no visible exhaust ports on those changeling ships?

Thx. I have no idea what the trylobot is, but feel free to use it on the ships. It sounds technical though, so it's probably sth cool. I didn't put ant exhaust ports on the ships - I forgot :P They could be underneath though   ;)

Are these ships done in a 3d modelling program? If they are, I'd love to see some beauty shots from various angles, even if they'll never be seen from such angles in-game.

They are, but there's no detail at the bottom side. Mostly they are flat without any textures there. It's just too time consuming to make full 3d details for 2d ships :( But this way I can make two ships in time of one ;D Have a look if you want to though, I don't think they look all that bad on the catwalk :P :

I didn't know what symbol does this faction use so I made one from the shape of the necklace from the drawing above. :-\
I tried to reflect the organic/shapeshifting feature of the race by adding reptile-ish/insect-ish scales and shapes to the texture. What do you guys think?

Sry for the delay. I was taking some time off from any PC-related work ^^ Now I'm back with even more energy and ideas xD
Here's a new ship: Solar Empire Frigate
I think it might be a frigate, though you guys decide. Btw. what's that about turrets? I don't mind making some sprites but I would have to know what resolution should I be aiming at.




I think i derped on that one a little bit i am guessing this is what you wanted.

Amazing work SonicRaptor! You make excellent ship models. I simply luv the shape of that ship, man! ^^
*Try touching that texture in gimp. You'd make it even more awesome. I think you have a real potential! Keep it up :D


I have some experience in GIMP but not a lot and i don't know what you mean by touch up.
I am guessing you mean pixel by pixel but i am not sure.

Your welcome, you earned it;) By touching it up in gimp I meant experimenting with various visual effects. You might try adding light effects like neons (always looks good on ships) or create bump maps. Changing colour schemes is also very easy in gimp. And last but not least, one can never overestimate the power of layers in 2d editing :)

For a mod I made a while back for Distant Worlds. If you like it, you can use it :) I did not make the ships all by myself. I used bsg schematics I found on the internet and used some gimp magic to make them look 3d, so credits go where they are due.
