System Map of the known Modiverse - 0.7a
« on: November 19, 2015, 08:41:01 PM »

I am no mod creator but I figured I'd post this here:

This is the entire new Sector Map. Since we now have nebulae and new systems most mods will have to adjust their locations based on the positions Alex left us. I'll try to update this image as mods are updated.

Edit.
Updated for the upcoming 7.1 patch. Positions circled in yellow are points modders have already claimed to be interested in. Positions circled in red filled with yellow are being used by two or more modders.

Yup, there is much less space to place our systems... Though I suppose "hidden" systems will be much more interesting to find! I'm on the fence for Scy: I can either not care and keep the current random location, or use a list of possible locations. Mmmh I think I'll keep the random one for the barebone update and see how it turns out

It seems like the Nebular map might be editable somewhat easily, but that could lead to potential compatibility problems with other mods should they choose to do the same.  For now I've moved Gigas and Anar into the pockets "North" and "Northwest" of Askonia respectively.

Probably gonna make sure that Radikius is under the empty spot south of Aztlan and north west of Samarra

Updated the map with some basic coordinates so we can organize the systems better. Eventually I should replace them with the actual ingame positions but that will come later.

Okay so Acheron will be in a random point chosen between handpicked sweet spots (obviously it will check if the spot is occupied or not). I figured it could be useful for everyone instead of having to find the right coordinates via trial and errors. They are all at more than 4000 units from each other so no overlap. It's not exhaustive, but that's already 55 obvious emplacements.

Hey! I totally didn't consider mods when I made that hyperspace map. So for the 7.1 patch, whenever that is, I've added a bit more room to play with. Image here: http://imgur.com/Gu2NJ7w

Turns out since we still can't pan the map in the intel screen it doesn't make much difference sadly.

@David
Out of curiosity, shouldn't the "Core Worlds" area have a lot more open space?  I mean, they're the "core worlds" of the sector, and thus are probably going to have a lot more traffic and clear out more deep hyperspace (at least, if that's how hyperspace works - sort of like how if enough people walk along a given path enough times, they'll wear out the grass and leave a visible path).

Note: please sacrifice your goats responsibly, look up the proper pronunciation of Alex's name. We wouldn't want some other project receiving mystic power.

It's meant as a suggestive label more than a current description. And besides, everything is subject to change! I've got vague ideas for how things will look in their final form, though again: vague. (And you don't have to expect a major reshuffle until the next major patch, of course.)

It would be more straight paths then. I'd guess it's naturally formed.
