QED makes no sense in that sentence, stop trying to be clever.

"As was to be expected" does not make sense there?

I don't think it does. Why would it be obvious that fuel serves no purpose at all, and you just can't travel to other star systems? And, while i don't know a lot of latin and thus can't really talk about double-meaning and stuff like that, QED is probably far more often used as "which was to be demonstrated", which makes even less sense in this case.

QED serves more of a function than its translatable phrase, in that it can serve as the opening of the conclusion following a series of premises and propositions.

In this case, if fuel is used to travel between systems, and there are no other systems for which one can travel to, and making money is good, it follows from these statements or QED, you should sell your fuel.

It's called a tooltip. :)  But yeah, it's not really obvious.

You won't be able to refit fighters and bombers at all. They're designed/balanced around having a particular set of weapons and would be very broken if you could change it. Which ones you pick for your fleet -out of quite a few that are available- is the choice here, not how they're outfitted.

Wow, you took Latin in 7th grade?  I feel pretty shabby, I've never even given myself the oportunity to fail at learning it, and I've graduated College.   ;D

QED means 'Quod Erat Demonstrandum', roughly 'that which was to be demonstrated'. It's used at the end of an argument to indicate that the argument is complete and the writer of the argument believes their point to be proven.
