IF there was boarding / ground combat in this game.

Did anyone else play Sony Online Entertainment's Infantry Online?

Totally, Starsector feel, but multiplayer and infantry combat, topdown sprites running around with a lot of inertia and slippery floor with really slow bullets or delayed shots.

I think SOE tried to do a reboot in 2010 or something, but yeah, servers went down. That game took some major skill to play...

Yeah, that game even had it where firing weapons weakens your own shields.

Totally did, for a short time!

Honestly it felt a bit like SubSpace to me (which I WAS really in to - got to the top of one of the main servers for just a short time and decided yep, I had Made It.) ... for the obvious reason that it was the same development team, apparently.

The physics always felt weird it me, like they wanted to make another SubSpace but grudgingly made it have little dudes instead of spaceships. I'm more one for spaceships, but maybe you'd guess that from, well, you know.

How exciting to find so many infantry/Subspace veterans here! I mustn't played both for years. Too bad Infantry went subscribe to play at one point and I was too young to have a credit card.

There was indeed a "fleet zone" in Infantry, but before that they also had a spaceship game called "Cosmic Rift" which is much more Subspace-like. So much was had in the "Rogue Trader" Zone.... the fleet zone must had draw so many players away from CR the game pretty much died afterwards.

Weird physics? I don't really understand which part of the game's physics is "weird" actually... Maybe it's just the fact that the viewpoint isn't top-down but goes a little bit isometric...

Oh yeah, cosmic rift and infantry was basically the same game engine, tho never got into cosmic rift since there was rarely enough people during its whole lifespan to really get the game going.

Is there still these kind of online topdown physics pvp shooting games out there with people playing them?
