Show weapon origin

I keep forgetting which piece of weapon belongs to which mod. I wonder if it's viable that weapon tool-tips would also show the mod from which the weapon comes from.

I second that! The tooltips should be toggleable in the settings though, once you know what weapon belongs to to which mod, you wouldn't need them.

I think this is largely unnecessary; the reason being that modded factions use their own weapons - all you have to do is fight with or against their ships in order to find out what weapons they use. It's not exactly difficult to remember, and to be honest you don't really need to remember which faction a given weapon comes from.

And beyond their description and placement, athletic style is also a good indicator for which faction they belong to: an Exigency weapon looks nothing like a BRDY weapon, or a SCY weapon.

In short, a think an identifier field is useless and unneeded.

I think you meant aesthetic, but well said. The style of the weapon usually gives away what modded faction it belongs to. Then again, for non-faction mods it may be more difficult - especially with well kitbashed weapons. But then, why would you want to know where it comes from, as such mods are usually made to blend in with vanilla.

I wouldn't mind a way to sort them out though. Like the codex, you can sort the size on normal mounts, and the type on universal. A way to sort them by mod or tier would be a bonus.

That's... not a bad idea at all, Tartiflette.  :)

A way of sorting weapons by faction would be a nice feature. Then again, as I understand it, the vanilla game doesn't really deal in 'factions'. Yes, there are different groups. But they do not have a specific set of ships or weapons. They more or less share these assets between them. I think this will become especially obvious in the coming updates. (right now there actually is a pretty devining line between the hegemony (being low-tech Mastery epoch), Tri-tachyon (being high tech Expansion epoch) and Sindrian Diktat (being mid-tech Core epoch).

As such, a sorting feature like that may become redundant (safe for the mod introduced factions).

I don't know that vanilla really needs the feature, especially as erick said once the factions share weapons more. Perhaps instead the mod makers could just throw the faction at the top of a tooltip or something?

If we had a way for stuff in the codex to be sorted by faction, vanilla ships could just be sorted by their epoch.

....

TYPOS WE MEET AGAIN. for the 156th time today. I have to wonder if there are any athletic weapons out there.

I'd have to agree in spite of myself. It might be nice if in the codex it were possible to selectively filter mods out/in. Not at all necessary, but useful if you want to quickly view a whole faction form the codex. Mind you, most mod threads provide you with images of both ships and weapons.
