Another surprise is that the phase frigates are really cheap to field. Will try those for a bit.

Gothars, you will not be disappointed, especially if you arm them with ballistics.

Updated for 0.6.1a  :)

Xyphos is now in the same cost range as most of the other fighters: about 15-18 supplies per battle, or 1800-2200 credits.
Thunder and Gladius are still cheap though; 8.4 and 10 supplies (1015 and 1216 credits) respectively, although both cost more than they did in 0.6a.
Talon (8.16/979) and Longbow (12.08/1450) are also cheap, but weak.

Warthog (27.36/3283) and Mining Pod (24.32/2918) are (still) absolute scams, stay away from them. You could field a Falcon or Venture or Medusa for a lot less!

Great, thanks! Added to the list of useful threads for now. When I get around to go over the whole newbie help/manual thing I will add it there, if that's OK with you.

Finally updated for 0.6.2a after like forever (how long has it been since release? ::))

Of note: Due to rounding and occasionally what appears to be a deliberate change, some ships are now cheaper or more expensive to deploy. Most people will probably have noticed by now after so long, but here's a list anyway.

Cheaper
  • Afflictor
  • Astral
  • Brawler
  • Dominator
  • Enforcer
  • Falcon
  • Hammerhead
  • Lasher
  • Odyssey
  • Omen
  • Paragon
  • Tempest
  • Vigilance
  • Wolf

More expensive
  • Apogee
  • Aurora
  • Conquest (now most the capital with the longest recovery time)
  • Doom
  • Eagle
  • Gemini
  • Hound
  • Onslaught

Also note that many non-combat ships are now 2-4 times more expensive to deploy. The Mule (among others) is unchanged, however.

As there is a long interval between updates considered, that list won't be updated for a while until then.  :P

I just wanted to chime in to say that resources like this comparison are priceless when trying to determine what is good in the current game iteration and more importantly why it is good. Most players agree that frigates are powerful in the current version, but resources like this one take the discussion out of the realm of "feels like the best choice" and into a place that is easier to make balance adjustments.

Thanks for all your painstaking work!

Found a little error: The Heron (cruiser) is listed as a destroyer :)

Updated for 0.65a! (in a timely fashion this time ::))
I think idle cost/day was completely messed up in all previous versions :( But it should work now.

I didn't check all the ships for this update, so speak up if you see a mismatch!

Notable changes:
  • Hound takes twice as long to recover CR (and thus costs twice as much to deploy). No longer the cheapest frigate to deploy (that's the Lasher now).
  • Aurora and all combat capitals except Astral are cheaper to field now. All now take 5 days to fully recover CR, except Onslaught which takes 4.
  • Most fighters now use half as much logistics as they did before, and some use a third. Warthog is actually affordable now (9 supplies/wing assuming no losses), and Thunder, Gladius and Longbow are more dirt cheap than ever to deploy (2.8 to 4 supplies). too bad Longbow still sucks
Note: this does not apply to the Mining Pod which received no CR-related breaks whatsoever, and a wing of which still costs as many supplies to field as a Dominator. This is AN OUTRAGE!!

With my solo onslaught I'm finding that the costs of recovering CR to be a non-issue; fuel is much more of a constraint. (Though more one of supply, than cost)

Is this really how it's supposed to work???
