So, finally I carved out my own faction and here it is:

The Qualljom Society



Lore:
They are a bunch of scientists, engineers, technicians and adventurers dedicated to exploration and techmining. They started as a scientific exploration and had to settle at some distant starsystem, Holotis, where they developed into the group they are today.
Details and integration into vanilla lore has yet to be done.

The fleet:

The Arsenal:
The Qualljom Arsenal is mostly derived from core-world tech, their missile weapons are quite different, weaker in payload and hp but stronger in number.
Also they took some experimental blueprints of Particle Accelerator Cannons with them, along with a concept weaker in damage but more energy efficient than pulsed lasers which they call Microblaster.

The actual version is:
0.6.1
It is vanilla balanced and campaign integrated. No missions though.

No descriptions as of yet, still to come. Also some weapons have no correct hardpointversion, the ones that don't make really sense to put there like the flak.

I would be glad if you post a comment, share some thoughts, critic, or question.
If you think some elements are overpowered, underpowered, let me know cause I'm aiming for vanilla balance.

Update 0.60:

O.K., took me some time to get back to dis lil' project but here's the update for Starsector 0.6.2a.
There's also additional content, a cruiser, a large assault gun and some twisting of stats for vanilla balance and some minor graphical adjustments.
For some weapons I left the old 0.54.1a sounds cause I liked them, they are included.

Update 0.6.1:

New weapons, new ships, tweaking of stats for balancing reasons, and the Osor Torpedo Bomber and the newly designed Enshy Carrier represent the new style in which they all will be remodeled.
There will be a change in style as you can see when looking at the Enshy.


Exerelin 0.632 Integration:
The former Integration is outdated and not yet updated in Exerelin 0.632, so here's what you have to put into your installation of Exerelin:

It contains a "data" folder and deep down in some subfolders three files.
just put the content into your starsector\mods\exerelin 0.632 folder.
It should ask if it should integrate some folders, just click o.k., one file (exerelin_config.json) will be overwritten. In that file it just adds the entry "qualljom" in the line "supportedModFactions".

looks good. is the download a set of missions or its a direct campaign integration ? (i hate when new mods do the latter and not the former first)

otherwise the designs look nice. something's bugging me about the overall appearance but i cant put my finger on it

Nice looking ships, nice looking custom weapons. I like the look of some of the weapons being offset to the side. I would download and see how they play, but I'm gonna wait for 0.6 before diving back into mods.

I have to say that I really like the unique style of your sprites, very aesthetically pleasing. Among the many mods I consider this one a gem in that regard. I hope that you can continue your work on this mod at some point, though I understand that life can often get in the way.

It already is, it is playable in the normal vanilla campaign,
Qualljom Society has its own starsystem "Holotis" in the far north east of the galactic map.

It's not in the mod section cause it has to be moved there by a moderator. Might happen soon.

You can contact us about it. Let me know if you want your mod to be moved to the mods subsection. I can also add it to the mod index. Would you say it is vanilla balanced and campaign integrated?

Looking good!
My favourite would be the Vonol. I really like that shape and those hexagon tiles, or whatever someone would call those.

Unfortunately I also have a least favourite. The Drordaw is shaped a bit too much like a naval vessel in my opinion, making it look weird to fly around in space.
But that's probably just me. ;)

Yeah, my favorite is also the vonol.

I tended to play cruisers when playing vanilla, but this little guy is a great mix of mobility and firepower and I end up playing with this destroyer.

I would like to create a tough front armor, but I lack the coding skills.

I think your ships would benefit greatly for a second color. Right now the plain beige is a bit underwhelming, adding some colored stripes or something else would make them look more interesting.

To me your faction remind of some kind of sea-shells. Maybe some colorful (garish?) paintjob would look good on them?

Yeah, you're right that they look quite plain with just one color.
That's why I added stripes and I'm working on details like metalparts and so on.
I'm glad that the idea of shell or bone surface can be recognized.
First I tried straight stripes but now I'm growing fond of tiger or zebra-like.
