So, how did you come across Starsector?  Or, back in the old days, when it was called "Starfarer."  So, how did you? Vote above!

I originally thought I wasn't gonna like it because it was supposedly like SPAZ, but more tactical.

I heard about it from TB's video January 14th of 2012, bought it immediately
Also still miss the old name, and i still call it that most of the time.

i actually cant recall at all.
i know i used to play spaz, and starting from there i probably discovered starfarer somehow.
with a major change spaz had a while ago, i completly left it for starsector

I saw some people playing an early build on Youtube and was immediately sold.

It was SPAZ with less arcadey spam and more tactics.

They still may have the front page on the link, and you can see starfarer right on it, too bad it wasn't an actual demo, but I looked it up since that picture looked fairly interesting
Took a leap of faith and dropped some moneys and didn't regret it.

Saw totalbiscuits video on it, and i immediately bought it. Also signed up on the forums almost the same day too.

was looking for some, any space battle game, someone on some forum (forgot where) dropped the name "starfarer"

then I googled it and saw totalbiscuit's video (subbed to TB a while before that but way after the video), watched it and bought soon thereafter

I searched up the terms: (this is exact BTW) "Games like SPAZ" because i was a fan of those kind of games. It took me to a forum and a guy mentioned this game. And BAM, there goes $10 out of my pocket without noticing.

I read Alex' first post in the DF forums promoting his new game. I think I might be one of the first people on the members page if you check date of registration.
