[WIP] iX Corporation faction - feedback wanted

Hi All,

I'm busy working on a new faction which kinda is a mix between (old and new)tech, re-design, expanded construction and mining.

For now i have 2 ships and 1 wing ready for testing
I guess i still need to tweak some things - the Constructor ship might be a bit OP atm. (1.5 mod balance)

I looking forward to hearing your feedback, possible suggestions or wishes on where to go further with this new faction.

I found quite some separate ship-parts on some links on this forum.
I have been collecting them and making them transparent in PNG format.

Feel free to use it for your own faction, or maybe for a new ship for the iX faction ;)

Looking good. I really like the style. :)
Are these made from scratch? If so, awesome. Double awesome for not having symmetrical ships.

Thx! I hope more like it.
All the parts i used from different material - but there was quite some editing along the way.
I even totally reversed both ships :D

allright, so i played a bit of this. i tested out both ships in the stimulation and i did a random battle. i'll start with the stimulation battles. i'm mostly just telling the results becouse i suck at feedback but i'll trow some feedback in anyway.

i started off testing the construction ship. i first refitted it becouse i always tend to do that and i thought the energy optics hullmod wasn't needed. i first went against an (warning wrong spelling inbound) ounslaught in the stimulation, which is silly becouse the ounslaught is the champion of cruiser/capital 1vs1's. so i lost that one horribly and i didn't even get trough his shields. then i went against a more reasonable opponent, the conquest. i won that one but i didnt like overkill him or anything. this brings me to a question: is the construction ship supposed to be a combat ship or is it more like a support? if it is a combat ship then i think it's pretty balanced, if not then it would need some  more supportive adjustments to make it less overwelming in 1vs1 combat. i think thats everything for the constructor so far.

now the other ship (dammit i forgot his name, i'll just name it cruiser) i refitted this one too and i used a weapon from the weapons pack mod, this may have made the ship more powerfull becouse i replaced the large autocannon with a triple hypervelocity cannon. i fought against the venture cruiser and won. but yeah.. that wasn't that fair too, a combat ship vs a mining/carrier ship. overall the ship seems quite good but may need a more unique built-in, but i'm sure that will come later.

now for the battle. i went in with 1 constructor, 2 cruisers and like 5 fighters or something. i went against from what i can recall: a medusa, 3 falcons, 2 brawlers, 1 wolf and some fighters. it started off pretty good becouse only the enemy fighters where in the middle yet.i killed some fighters and a brawler, then the medusa and his friends came in, i got overloaded and had to watch my ship get torn apart by like 12 missilles. meanwhile almost all the enemy fighters and frigates where dead. those fighters are really strong, a little too much. maybe if you replace the torpedo's with something else becouse the just drop them and watch the ship die almost certainly. i won the battle with 2 losses i think, a fighter and a cruiser.

i hope you got some usefull feedback from this and i'm looking forward to see what you have next. i think you should focus on smaller ships first, and ship systems.

Really nice ships there. It's nice to see some unusual design.

And as conorano said, you should first add some frigates. After all, that's the very first kind of ship the player use in the campaign.

By the way, what's will be the playstyle of this faction?

Thanks for testing al ships and briefing about it.
Yes, i also think the Constructor is a bit OP and needs to be less overwhelming.
I want to have a super large massive 'construction' ship, which also has lots of firepower but i think that will be a new capital ship.

The second ship Basher (destroyer) can be easily destroyed but has decent firepower as well.
I need to think about the weapons which i want included - i'm not sure if i can simply use weapons from other mods and implement them and that they will stay compatible, even if these weapons from other mods get updated.
(But yes, it would be awesome if the build-in are truly unique!)

And last the support-fighter Tirade - i really like them strong, but maybe because i would like fighters to be stronger overall.
I could change to the scorpion missile.
But if this wing is cornered they can be shot down quite fast - they aren't that fast or that maneuverable.
Maybe i should remove the shield anyway...

Thanks, i did want to create a faction that has some new things to offer.
I'll start with frigates - although i really would want to design some massive capital ships, i understand the importance of frigates.

I have 2 ideas about the playstyle - i'm not sure if i should mix them, or choose one.
1. Construction and mining
With this playstyle 'construction' has the overhand which means more traditional combat, mining lasers/ and large ballistic guns and a broad diversity of support stuff going on.
The faction will have quite a lot of firepower, but really needs skill to use all of it (due to flux limitations).
Armor and cargo-holds are above average due to the heavy mining work, but the (top)speeds will be sub par.
For the larger ships it will be more about endurance and working hard to use the right weapons, systems and venting.
For the smaller ships it will be more about maneuvering and moving in for the kill at the right time.
An idea for a ship-system is a (one-time) total reload for all weapons to give a large construction ship more endurance.

2. Corporate and (diverse) technology
Due to the vast mining empire of the iX Corporation this faction has connections in the farthest star-systems and has given them some truly unique skills and weapons.
The ships have been improved upon, over and over again - resulting in a fleet with upgraded and expanded ships, which contain old and new tech.
In this case the ships can have more unique rolls to play, and have more unique specialties (some highly agile fighters and some highly armored battleships).
So think more of unique hull-mods, ship-systems and weapons, but all with the basics of standard (mining) ships.
There will be some platform-style ships which are meant for defending mining locations, and there will be exploration ships with more speed and special abilities.
In this idea an playstyle can be very varied.

Some concepts for new ships, possibly all smaller (frigate) ships.

I have the following ideas:

The first ship "half moon" can possibly be a larger ship (destroyer/cruiser) which has huge engines en therefor had huge speed and maneuverability.
With only limited weapon supply (small-med missilles and some ballastics) it is merely used for exploration and anti-fighter warfare.

The gunship / escort / anti cruiser frigate is a very maneuverable ship.
It has a large unique built-in front weapon (ballistic)
Low hitpoints and mediocre armor.

The capital support ship can be resized to fit other classes.
Mainly for support with hangars and launchbays and missiles.

The super fast fighter / frigate in the middle bottom can be used for smaller hit & run missions.
It's fairly new tech engines and shield, with older tech weaponry.

The standard frigate can be used for all kinds of tasks - not sure if i should have a standard-all-round ship.

And last some sort of very slow moving defense platform, which offers both support and heavy defense.
High endurance, lots of armor and weapons.

i'll let you know that those concepts look freaking amazing!

edit: about the standard frigate, it is always nice to have a decent all rounder thats quite rare, just to give the players a head start when choosing that frigate. starting with a support frigate or a heavily specialized ship can be a pain.

I hope i made the real frigate good enough like the concept sketch.
It turned out a tiny bit different, but the shape and size is almost exactly as i liked it.
Needs balancing though, but you can play with it in version 0.07

Haha, thx! Well eh, easy easy...
I do use those separate parts a lot, and bit of copy-pasting and a layer with high- and low-lights.
It took me a good 2 hours to make this frigate.
... and i do work with photo-software on a daily basis, so maybe that helps a bit on the speed.
