Insane loading times late game.

I've encounter that after playing for a long time and then "save scumming" it takes increasingly longer to load that save, i just spent 10 minutes to load my current save, and then i did it again to confirm my suspicions and the game crashed.

Is this an issue with the game or my PC not being able to handle it? :|

Its not that old, my computer is pretty good except for the graphics card, "GTX 260" everything else is up to date.

Does the loading time go down after you restart the game? (If so, it's probably related to the memory leak stuff that should be fixed.)

If not:
1) Can you check how big the savefile is?
2) What mods are you running with?

i didn't play THAT long in the game time (max maybe 4-5 years) but save/load take longer time
so alter in the game it could be an annoying problem

The Exerelin mod is the only mod for me that is taking an appreciable amount of time to save and load. Actually caused one of those soft crashes (game's music still plays, game is unresponsive and has kicked the bucket) that I haven't seen since the 512-512minmax memory fix. Probably something to do with the ~20 planets, ~30 stations and 4-5 asteroid belts AND the ~10-12 factions in my save AND all the code that makes Exerelin pretty neat..... Probably.....

(Side note: if you edit settings.json and set "compressSaveGameData":true, the saves will be *much* smaller and the loading times will speed up correspondingly. On the downside, you won't be able to hand-edit the save files anymore.)

Yeah, I noticed that in the Fairy mod which does it by default. Decided to try one of those ~60-70FP monster ships and went to edit my save only to find it zipped and untouchable. Left me stumped for like an hour before I remembered finding that option once upon a time in the configs and I undid it.
