It keeps spiraling! Nothing EA is doing is stopping the flow. What do you think about this?

I think the spiral's starting to slow down now.

I think the spiral's starting to slow down now.
It's shifting. It used to be about the DRM, now it's about the lies and the fact the game is inherently broken and a buggy mess.

Because people are actively rebelling, talking and crushing the company for it? Instead of accepting it?

The problem is that EA/Maxis completely screwed the launch up, due to the requirement that you have to always be online.
And while the enduser might have a good internet connection, he has no guarantee that EA/Maxis' servers are always online.

The reasoning was somewhere along the lines of "calculations have to be done on our servers", "your saves are saved on our servers".
Just recently however somebody released an offline mod for SimCity that works just fine. After that they had to admit that it would be possible to make the game entirely offline. They still decided against it. So if you, or EA/Maxis, have no internet connection - for whatever reason - the entire game is unplayable.

Personally I'm *** that they made Multiplayer without an option for Singleplayer. But I don't even own the game and I hope that EA will get the message.

PS: the reason why I use "EA/Maxis" is because I'm not sure who owns/maintains the servers.

They really aren't. This is the exact situation as what happened with Spore.

EA owns the servers. It may be that it's (kinda) *** because of the DRM, and maybe they secretly conspired to make it a DRM because EA is a money-grabbing ***, but it's fun that no city can be completely self-sufficient-co-operation is required, and friends/randoms can be fun (and a liability). But I haven't played any of the other games, so I wouldn't know.
(actually the same thing with C&C TT- I enjoyed it as an RTS game, not as a C&C fan.)

Did Forbes cover it? Did almost every nameable internet gaming journalist cover it? Is it getting horrendous reviews? Were the forums ablaze with controversy, conspiracy, etc.? They certainly are here.

It most certainly was. And it was all about the DRM. Then once that blew over, everyone started going "You know what, this game is *** even under the surface".

I seem to recall there was a lot of commotion over the fact it was cracked days before release as well.
