Sorry - it's a bit early for that, since the next release really doesn't focus on that. It does touch on it a bit, but not nearly to the depth that you're asking about.

The current size is the intended final size. But, well, nothing is really "final" final so it may change, but let's say I'm not planning on doing that.

It's Java, yeah.

As to why, it's the language I'm most familiar, comfortable, and productive with. I wouldn't say there's an objective "best" choice in general - C++, Unity, whatever, I think it can all work. (I will say that Java has a bad reputation in some corners of the internet for real-time things, but the reasons for it are extremely outdated and generally no longer hold.)

You download and install the game again. There is no automatic updater.
