Its a very interesting read and a good japanese light novel I wish you read it Alex There's also a Manga adaptation to it.
It really shows what life would be like as a scavenger/hunter, and looter/bandit searching for salvage and relics in a decivilized subpopulation unknown planet(at the point of a gauss rifle).
Can you imagine the hell they've been through?
It really coincidentally fits well in with the setting of Starsector but the difference is you're a land scavenger in a decivilized area.
Food is Scarce and very hard to come by.
Only Experienced Hunters Have to eat good food.
Poor people live by to eat scraps at the slums.
The Wealthy Elites are on the Gated neighborhood while the poor fend off outside the gate in the slum neighborhoods
The Protagonist Name is Akira An orphan who was raised in the slums and fends for Himself and He has a Contracted Hologram [REDACTED] sidekick named Alpha who is a girl.
The Enemies They fight are decivilized [REDACTED] of Old World and Animal Monstrosities (Mutations from bioweapons) and beasts who merge with the [REDACTED].
They're Misaligned like the Starsector [REDACTED] they also follow protocols.
Ironically The Player is like the difference is He/She only has space ships and Salvage rigs searching the remains of the Pre-collapse Domain.
It would be cool If the collab is successful:
Like a side quest in Sentinel The Player Accidentally stumbles Akira when He/She is salvaging on Akira's hometown barren planet
and they meet and interact each other in the campfire or in Sheryl's Gang Basement sharing cool stories what life being a spacer is like
And What's like being a hunter and a scavenger in a decivilized subpopulation world.
It warms my heart when the Player and Akira talk to each other with Sheryl and Her Gang members at Akira's Side with my imagination
Akira is a very interesting character He's an opportunistic pragmatist like the player and wants to escape the slum life and wants to become a high ranking scavenger/hunter and He's merciless to His Enemies and Shows His weak adorable side to the good people He trust.
He's Approximately still 15 years old ( He's still Basically A child) imagine fighting Old world [REDACTED] Animal Hybrid Monstrosities, Brigands and Looters at that age.
He suffers from ptsd seen a lot of scavenger hunters dead and He's almost even at death's door because of his bad luck and ironically save him.
He's been betrayed a lot (like middle working and rich scumbags) so he tends to have sociopathic tendencies to the people He hate.
He even has a [REDACTED] hologram sidekick Alpha guide and save Him. So he's a little bit op.
And the Player of Starsector is 10x worse than Akira if He/she chooses to (Saturation bombardment of planets to stone age, Drug and harvested organs smuggling, raiding planets for supplies, blueprints and colony items (Nanoforge inspection time joke), Use of Illegal [REDACTED] on Ships and Colonies etc. you name it).
It would even be better if the Player of Starsector Hugs Akira to comfort Him what he has been through and give Him Persean Sector Post Collapse Supplies, Weapons, and Armor even to Sheryl's gang (Its not clear if He's Akira's Girlfriend or just a friend). It would be even better with Art Illustration.
