Front page of Fractalsoftworks
« on: November 28, 2012, 11:05:20 PM »

The main site is a bit out date in a lot of ways; the video that is embedded is ancient and frankly looks bad compared to the current version of the game. I do like going back and seeing how much prettier the UI is now, but it just looks bad and is no longer representative of the product.

On a side note i very much miss hammerheads being able to use flak guns.

Good point.

Related question to Alex (if he reads this): Would you consider to feature a fan made teaser/gameplay trailer on the front page? I  (any maybe others?) would like to try my hand on it if I find time. Not that I want any promises, only to know if there is a chance or if there are some fundamental reasons (legal, sale, animal rights) to rule that out.

I'm afraid that's not an option - I suspect there *are* legal issues, and besides, it wouldn't look very professional (cue comments about how "professional" having a 1-year-old video is - I'm aware of the irony). I'd definitely consider putting up a blog post about something particularly impressive, though.

I will say this - I'm painfully aware of the video issue (and, to an extent, other stuff), and Top Men are on it.

Yeah, i actually like the fan-made video idea, but the problem is that it can't use any music, it has to be self-made. Without music, even a simple background tune, would make for a boring trailer. And there is nothing unproffesional about it, it's not like this is a whole studio of 50 developers.

One could use music under the creative commons license. Lots of suitable stuff there.

... Finally! Some music I can use as background music in my Gimbal videos! <3 Gothars!

OT: Im sure finding some suiting music to use wouldn be such a problem. Im sure many artists would love to have their music featured by this game.

I still think Alex would prefer a trailer with the actual game OST.

Honestly i think he could just throw a few more updated screenshots, remove the old ones and simply wait until the main campaign is fleshed out with music, mechanics and new ships/sounds/etc... THEN do the pre-launch teaser trailer. This wouldn't replace the main Launch Trailer of v1.0.
