Well lets see here. Provided some of the items that can be traded are slave, guns and drugs then the head of a massive criminal organization that operates out of a fringe star system which I have captured and fortified. Woe to any who anger me.....hee hee I said woe.

I'd love to be that explorer who can defend himself well, taking only one frigate and mapping the solar systems. Selling information for money and the occasional scouting/spying trip.
Basically a subterfuge-ish character that explores.

Anti-pirate. Though that doesn't go for just fighting against the pirate factions. If they're going after a convoy, they're fair game.

Most likely I'll roll around with a large but fast wolfpack of strike ships, favouring long range and EMP/energy weapons.

I really hope that later on the game will allow me to join in an ongoing battle and choose whom to side with.

I'd like to play someone who starts out in a weaponless shuttlecraft and works their way up, slowly building up to larger ships and then eventually building up a small fleet. I'd also like to play as a fighter pilot for one of the factions, not deciding things on a large scale but being given orders during battle and doing what I can (not sure if this will be possible).

Give me my Enforcer, two Wolves, a Condor, a Wasp Wing, and two Thunders and anything is possible. :)

Or give me Station and the system will be my monopoly within a few days. ;)

there is a mod which allowes you to control a head fighter of a squadron.

I'd like to play as an elite lone wolf mercenary.

Others can have their massive fleets or economic powerhouses. All I need is a loyal crew and a single ship with as much advanced weaponry as I can cram into it. 8)

Perhaps I'd go that route. :) An enforcer with that epic loadout is sure to tople even the toughest ship.  Maybe toss in a friagate as bait to make the battle go quicker. :D
