[0.53.1a] burn drive Onslaught
« on: September 12, 2012, 11:00:31 PM »

under some circumstances, colliding with a ship of even mass just on the side, does put my engines out but also sends my ship floating retaining the part of the burn rive speed. In looks strange, since most of the time, when the flame goes out during the burn drive, the ship nearly froze in place.

Right - that's just "how it works". A controlled burn results in a slowdown at the end, but when your engines go out, that's not always possible. Whether it manages to slow down while the engines are in the process of flaming out depends on how quickly that happens, which has some randomness to it.

Perfect. It just looked strange to be able to retain the momentum with a flameout, and being unable to do so in a normal Burn Drive. where is the flameout button? Show me, I want to push it!!!

That's because there's no friction in space dear.  Ships don't slow down once they get going unless they purposely stall.
