Frigates being caught in ship explosions more often.
« on: August 03, 2012, 02:01:40 PM »

I've lost a number of lashers and wolves when they get too close to a destroyer just before it blows up. It's happened several times so far, twice when fighting the mule.

Not sure if it's necessarily a bug but it's a silly way to lose a lot of frigates.

Thanks for the report, I'll take a look.

Anyone else having a similar experience?

I do, seems the same way like before you made then stay away from explosions. Maybe make frigates go longer away the less health a ship has. At <10% it would be on max weapon range or something.

Perhaps work a delay in the ship explosions?

So the ship is disabled and knocked out of the fight and explodes after several seconds after suffering catastrophic systems failure. Gives smaller ships time to get out of the way, and would allow for more dramatic booms. Cool ships never look at explosions.

Ahh seems like something has actually changed, I only noticed the explosion damage being significant since I became able to teleport in front of hounds and drop torpedoes in there noses before raising my shields...

(Which is SUCH  a fun thing to do!)

It might have something or other to do with ship systems. I've noticed an omen that has emp'd an enemy ship stays by it and bombards it with more emp goodness, even when it's going critical.

Also, I think the booms have gotten brighter =D

The Omen has died once in one of these explosions as well! And it's been too close but just survived a few other times..

I believe the lashers were activating their ability at the time as well.  It might not be that but it's worth noting.

Apart from that the AI has been fine, I've noticed a large enemy fleet will surround my ships more effectively than before as well.

I've lost a couple of omens this way. Maybe some others?
