Take the Medusa for example:

flux/dmg: 0.6 (base)
Crew: 0.8 (elite)
Hardened Shields: 0.75

Is it multiplicative:

Dmg = Base*Crew*hardened = 0.36

Or is it additive:

Dmg = Base*(1.0 - (1.0-Crew + 1.0-hardened)) = 0.33

The stats screen only shows "0.3" which could indicate either implementation.

I suppose just to be absolutely sure a 2nd question is pertinent; is the value used in-game the rounded/truncated value of 0.3, or is the underlying accurate value used.

:Edit:

Oops, 2nd equation was wrong!
Thanks for making me realize it Thaago ;D

I am pretty sure everything is applied to the base.

Actually, how about simply displaying it rounded to 1/100 in UI ? 1/10 seems too rough.

Also one more thing has been bothering me about adsorption rate: while against hard flux weapons shield multiplier simply increases survivability in finite amount, against soft flux it can mean difference between being killable or pretty much immune to given soft flux based opponent (depending on whether he can overpower flux regen or not). Which makes elite crew extremely important in this specific situation as an OP-free way to buff ship past it's design specs.

I'm fairly sure its: Base - .25*Base -.2*Base = Base*(.55)
Could be wrong, but thats what it appears to me.

Yup, elite crew is powerful.

Alex has said somewhere that shield damage reduction bonuses are multiplicative. I'll try to find the post, it was pretty recent. EDIT: Found it- http://fractalsoftworks.com/forum/index.php?topic=3754.msg57874#msg57874

To quote the relevant bit:
This... should be really interesting. Question: does the +60 degree mod apply before or after this one (for purposes of the arc increase, if it is multiplicative).
The Aurora was really vulnerable in its engines because of the shield speed before - should be much better now.

It's not multiplicative. Very few things actually are - if you see a percentage increase, it's almost always applied to the base value. The 50% flux damage boost is one exception, shield-damage-reducing-hullmods are another.

That being said, I'd like to see to the 1/100th place too.

EDIT 2: Looks like that change is on the way. Woo. http://fractalsoftworks.com/forum/index.php?topic=3780.msg58178#msg58178
This came up a couple of times, and there's really no reason not to do it, so, the fleet member tooltip will now show stuff with two decimal places (unless the 2nd one is 0).
