Question about .variant files
« on: May 06, 2011, 04:44:50 PM »

What do the 'flux capacitor' and 'flux vent' stats do? I noticed that some of the variants have values for this while others have just zero for both.

+100 max flux and +10 flux dissipation per second, respectively. These will cost 1 ordnance point (OP) each when outfitting your ship. It's a way to round out a variant design if you have a few extra OPs left, or something to focus on if you choose to, say, go with a limited set of weapons but much better flux stats.

Too bad there are no afterburners - the Onslaught could really do with a few... dozen.

:D You might completely lose all ability to have weapons, but you could essentially use your ship as a huge battering ram!
That /would/ be something fun to try... Run right up at something like 200 speed, activate your shield once its very close, and watch the target go 'boom' (or at least go flying away with huge amounts of damage)
