Why is there no gate in Hydrasil?
« on: May 19, 2025, 01:12:58 PM »

For the system with TT headquarter, it is odd there is no gate in the important system.

The planets in systems with gates were probably government owned or given to government friendly corporation. Remember TT is disliked by the Domain and I'm sure a far off sector governor wouldn't be too keen on letting TT buy real estate on a planet in a gate system which could be going to anything else the Domain needs.

I personally like the theory that they tried to reverse-engineer it and it blew up. No supporting evidence, just seems like something they would do.

You can damage/destroy gates?
Because if you can pretty much any in luddic territory would likely be blown up. They have been described as adamantine after all.

They would not, because they believe Ludd will return via the gates. The Luddic fleet holding vigil in front of the gate when you're trying to scan mentions it.

As whether the gates are invincible there's not really a sure answer one way or another but I would assume that anything built can be taken apart, even if it's extremely difficult/expensive to do so. Of all the factions I think only TriTach would have both the motive and the means.

Like I said though, no supporting evidence, just an interesting hypothesis.

I should note that if you talk to the vigil while having luddic ethos (and maybe a luddic church commision too i had one at the moment and the text acknowledged it) and suggest to give them some supplies so they can fix up their fleet and move away for a bit you will note that they are heretics.
So from that it can be assumed that while the belief of ludd returning through the gates might be a luddic belief it is NOT an orthodox belief.

The option to give them some supplies can also be done as a story point option regardless. When I tried it out, I definitely had some luddic ethos, but I think it might be a "greatest of" check since I started out agnostic - because I didn't pass the check, that might've been why there weren't remarks about the orthodoxy of the vigil. Not only does it (again) reveal that luddic beliefs aren't homogeneous, but the PC's unawareness if they're not a committed faithful certainly makes anti-gate beliefs less of a given.

the answer is simple
Hybrasil wasn't a priority system

Eochu Bres was elevated by Tri-Tachyon in supposed preparation for the Collapse
