Hi Alex.
Found it. It was not Java after all, it's "Open the Codex" keybind. If you unbind it to nothing, and attempt to mouse over skill in character menu, game will crash. Reinstalling Java helped only because it also would reset keybinds to default.

For those of you who navigate yourselves to this page and are wondering what is the cause of the issue, through a bit of testing I was able to find that uninstalling the Second-In-Command https://fractalsoftworks.com/forum/index.php?topic=30407.0 mod will cause this to happen, as to why I've got no clue lol, but since rebinding the open the codex button has been found to be the solution, I figure it doesn't need further investigating except by the author of said mod.
