Hey,

you know when you are in the solar system and flying around you can
speed the game a bit up so you don't have to wait so long with the shift key.

How about adding a key to lock the speed of the game so you don't have to
hold the shift key all the time? Maybe double-tap shift or so.

Also you could add speed levels.
For example if you press shift and 5 it will speed up the game by 500%.
If you double tap shift and keep it pressed after the second time and then press 5 it will
lock the game to run on 500% speed until you press shift again.
Maybe the higher numbers would give insane speed, so it could bug,
but there sure are ways to handle that.

OS X users rejoice - rebinding speed up time to caps lock makes it toggle on/off.

Man, who uses capslock? I have it disabled on my computer, and I've never been in a situation where I needed it iirc.

I Remember that X3: Terran Conflict had an SETA which worked as an speed up. Just press a button and nothing more needed. You could adjust the compression by up to 1000x, I think :D

I managed to get round this by pressing Alt + Tab while holding Shift :D
When you go back into the game it should still be sped up until shift is pressed again.
Kind of an unstable way to do it though :P
