I have a program called Chaos Tricks that I would like for to show effects over the game, and they ask us to use Borderless fullscreen mode on games. This has worked fine on most games, however even when checking the fullscreen option off in the launcher...it still doesn't work for starsector. Is there any way to fix it? I tried the undecorated windowed mode....thing and fiddled around with the settings, all it did was make the launcher look a bit off lol (turns out legacy mode for the launcher was turned on, oops)

Any mod or setting or whatever for it to be true fullscreen borderless? I heard it may of been a bug with Nvidia or something but I have a Radeon card, so it's clearly not that.

I would really like this to work, so please help!

The image is the undecoratedwidnow setting set to true, as was asked of me from other people which ofc didnt work.

Hmm, if you run the game at your fullscreen resolution with the "fullscreen" button unchecked, it will run in a borderless window the size of your screen. However, in my experience, most graphics drivers treat this as being something between fullscreen and windowed, so I'm not too surprised that an issue like the one you're having might come up. This isn't something I can do anything about on my end, unfortunately; the game is trying to create a borderless window, but the OS/graphics driver/whatever is treating it a bit differently if that window fills the entire screen.

However, in my experience, most graphics drivers treat this as being something between fullscreen and windowed, so I'm not too surprised that an issue like the one you're having might come up. So what exactly CAN I do then? I have a Radeon AMD RX 7800XT. There anything I can do?

You could try doing a borderless window that's a bit smaller than your full resolution, or maybe tweaking the graphics settings in ... whatever the config application for Radeon cards is, I think it was called the CCC at some point?, though I don't know what if anything there might have an impact.

If you're feeling adventurous, you could try making the game run using Vulkan:

That might help since it'll be taking a very different path through the graphics driver.

Might try those...although what's Vulkan?

It's a different graphics API; very vaguely like OpenGL (which Starsector uses) or DirectX but different, and newer.

I checked the fourm you linked and am a bit confused by those steps. Why are some steps, like 4.1, 5.1, 6.1 and 6.2, have no instructions?

Either that or I somehow installed vulkan without knowing....anyway XD
