Fleet Size By DP as a game option.

I know that you can just use a mod but this feels so natural it should be optional part of the game as it makes playing feel so much smoother without artificial 30 ship soft cap.

Absolutely agree with this. Gives a lot of options to fill a lean fleet with considering how the fleetsize by DP mod works. Also changes basically nothing for larger, bulkier fleets.

And DP limit done on a per lvl basis, so you need to grow in level to grow your fleet.

Agreed. The peak operating time mechanic means that smaller ships lose simply by being in the field a long time. Combine this with the fleet-size-by-ship and it means a comparable fleet of smaller vessels auto-loses. by-DP gives you a lot more flexibility on your strategy.

Is the 240 dp limit any less artificial than the 30 ship soft cap?
imo the soft cap is more interesting because it adds more weight to what non-combat ships you bring & leads you away from doing things that break the game (spamming kites with missile autoforge & gazers, for instance)

Hard disagree. The game's combat becomes much worse when there are dozens of frigates swarming the field playing bumper cars with each other.
