Not to speak for Alex but he's said something in the past that relates to this AI behavior: it's better for the AI to be too passive than too aggressive. Though you may be frustrated at a ship not capitalizing on obvious opportunities (in this case, being too conservative with Burn Drive), you would be irate if the AI constantly killed your ships by using it too aggressively. Not saying that the behavior can't be improved but he's right.

I do agree that the AI cancels Burn Drive too much but I'd much rather it err on the side of playing it safe than suiciding itself. If Aggressive/Reckless doesn't make ships more prone to Burn Drive to pursue, it should, though I haven't really tested it.

I think the shield shunt should be significantly buffed to just straight to double the armor and maybe increase the hull. But that is just the ramblings of an avid "shunt-slaught" enjoyer lol

I think slapping on more armor is the wrong way to go. I'd rather see it changed functionally.  Like turned into Ablative armor of the Invictus.  Or move the shields inside the ship, protecting the hull.  (armor->shields->hull instead of shields->armor->hull, and balance from there).

If i remember well Alex nerfed shield shunt. Not entirely sure why exactly but considering that the more armor you have the stronger it is so maybe it was too much i guess.

I see absolutely no reason as to why give one of your ships ablative armor as it is mostly a balance lever to give truckloads of armor to ships without them becoming impossible to crack open... Like the invictus.
And as for reversing the shield armor order i don't see why would you do that because ships without shields are FORCED to become less cowardly because they will no longer recieve hard flux that would make them retreat and vent and they now have no reservations to use all the flux in their weapons now.

Weirdly, I've heard reports that Timid makes ships more likely to use Burn Drive. Something about the ship throwing up panic flags encouraging it to use the system? Haven't tested Timid on a burn drive ship myself. I have tested out steady vs aggressive vs reckless though and I don't feel any difference in Burn Drive usage. That's just a "Trust me bro" source though, so not very useful.

He nerfed no s-mod Shield Shunt from 25% to 15%.  Then he gave the s-mod bonus another +15% so Shunt Shield can give 30% if s-modded.
