Any ship build recomendations?
« on: August 19, 2024, 01:31:24 AM »

I am starting out in this game, and already found a preferred play style (LP and TT Brawler Swarm). I am curious about other builds. Good, bad, memes, it doesn't matter.

CapnHector has some excellent builds focusing on a fleet of five capital ships of the same type. Good source of inspiration. Beyond that, I'm usually disinclined to recommend SO Aurora to new players because of how meta it is, but you've already found LP brawler spam on your own, so it's no harm to point it out to you. Automated Ships carrier saturation is another good one.

For a fun one, it has limits with regard to the hardest faction in vanilla, but for everything else in the game, an Odyssey all on its own can take on quite a substantial fleet. In Nexerelin, which gives factions S-modded endgame-level fleets, you can take on a challenge of destroying an entire such armada with one Odyssey.

Good to know. I read forums whenever I come across a new ship I haven't seen, see what other people have done to them.

After months of tweaking, this is my favourite Onslaught XIV build. It is effective into the end-game, and more importantly, hella fun to play. (Yes, I know it looks ridiculous, but this is one of those builds that have to be piloted before it is judged.)

Credit to Demetrious for the name of this ship.

Edit: This build is meant to be the tip of the spear for a large fleet. It is built to be near impervious to missiles and torpedoes 360 degrees. You absolutely can charge into the middle of a very heated firefight and come out unscathed. I love this Onslaught because it will buy so much space and time for all the rest of your ships to do their jobs. It is also extremely capable solo, able to take out fleets with DPs multiple times its own. Shockingly, it is equally capable in the hands of AI.

If you like the LP brawler, you might like the Retribution.

Here’s a playstyle build that is completely different from what you’re doing now. 4 onslaughts, 5 escort package manticores, 1 medusa, 1 piloted SO enforcer is a fun and relatively easy lowtech build to try out. The medusa is responsible for roaming to distract the enemy as well as capturing one of the two points in enemy territory at the start of the battle for full 240 DP deployment requirements. The piloted enforcer is there to distract the enemy frontline to give the onslaught and manticore battle line even more advantages, it can also assist the medusa in the capture phase in the very beginning. The manticores can capture one of the points closest to your side and the onslaughts burn drive to the other, fulfilling the 3 capture point requirement for 240 DP. Then you combine the onslaughts and manticores into one battle formation. The manticores are both flank support and a method of slightly extending the length of the battle line, and the onslaughts are the core of the battle line. For smaller battles the onslaughts can be kept in reserve.

You can also remove 1 onslaught and 1 manticore (for battleline escort package destroyers I use as many destroyers as I have capitals +1) to fit in more support craft of your choosing. Condors, eradicators, eagles, medusas, wolves, whatever.

Screw the meta.  Get yourself an Atlas Mk II.  Put two mjolnirs on it with alternating fire and a locust on manual, then some vulcan PD on the front and back.  Leave the side guns empty.  Vent it up and get aux thrusters.  Do what you need to make it work and then revel in the sheer DEVASTATION of twin ammo fed mjolnirs on a capital class logistics ship that costs only 24 DP to deploy.  It's slow, it lacks agility and it's fragile but it'll teach you positioning and piloting skills and when you master it you'll laugh at ships of all sizes as you wreck their fancy fleets with up-gunned pirate trash.

Triple Heavy Blaster SO Aurora
2x AM Blaster + 3x IR Pulse Scarab
Phase Lance Advanced Optics Arbalest Eagle
Double Reaper Mora, reckless officer
Ramparts
The humble Pulse Laser Mule (P)
High Intensity Laser Prometheus Mk II

All a good time.

There is always the good old Hammer Head with 2x chain guns and 2x light auto cannon.  Give it safety overrides.  and let the fun begin.

Also anything with 2x high intensity lasers.  The tri lance Sunder.

Low tech designs that max armor and have no shields.  its silly.  they just keep shooting and never overload flux.
